This commission was produced for Makoto and his wife, Sapphire after Anthrocon 2008... It’s always fun being able to place characters into a graphic novel setting, this time the Starfall mountains. Especially when that setting consists of rolling slopes of fluorescing snow. Let's see... The clothing design for Saphirra is an attempt to combine winter gear with an Egyptian theme, as her fursona typically wears Egyptian oriented clothing. The only place where that goal really shows through are on the turqoise accents, and the sort of scarve - skirt accessory. Makato is wearing the equivalent of a Troika outfit, but with a fun striped scarf and leg - bracers added for fun. So, mix of real coats and stuff, combined with some made-up stuff, and fur lining whenever possible
Now that you mentioned the Egyptian theme, her eyes now make sense. Also...I have to ask again...a Troika outfit? The only kind of reference to that, that I am aware of would be a traditional Russian sleigh. Is that correct? I do have to admit that I like the scarf and leg bracers. Who says you can't be fashionable and still stay warm!
