Unwelcome Intruders Are a Welcome Lunch
Void hates people wandering into his swamp, which he thinks is almost as perfect as his (insufferably smug) self - so should anyone be brave enough to venture into the murky depths of his lair they'll usually find themself soon entering the squishy depths of his innards. Now Void is mute and doesn't speak (feral growls, roars and snorts are all you'll get from this fluffy dragon) but he certainly knows how to let you know your place around him - as Enigma ONCE AGAIN finds out for himself.
More traditional art! I'm pleased with how this turned out, working with goopy muck is always fun to colour (plus it's how Void keeps himself looking so fabulous by bathing in it) and it goes without saying that drawing a vore piece again was a very welcome return.
Letraset ProMarkers, Boldmere pencils and white gel pens were my weapons for this. It took a long time...

I gotta say, I'm loving your titles. :D They're like the first introduction to a piece. I spy a very good impression! And wow, is your traditional art a welcome sight! I'm really impressed by this one. Your shading on Void is second to none. Seriously, I just can't fault it. The texture is there, it's good and dark and deep without looking murky. Executed perfectly to my taste, so well done!
I've often mentioned how much I like your keeping to bright vibrant colours. This makes a little change from what I can see, particularly the background and Void's insides. I think it really adds something to the piece. Swamps don't sound to me like the brightest, happiest places. Even so, all the detail going into every part of the piece is amazing. You know I'm not the best guy with vore but I can't stop looking at the internal shot. Great colour, nice touch on the sticky drool in there and of course, that's one slightly unfortunate hyena in there! XD
Your feral anatomy is absolutely ace on this one. You know me, I've always preferred the feral body shape in furry art. I think you started taking really good turns with your feral anatomy since you revamped Gebbu and turned him from barrel shaped to a more defined feral shape...still fat obviously but hey. :p Back to the point, brilliant body on Void. You've certainly acquainted yourself with how that skeleton works, what with how his legs are stretched out behind him.
This one, I can tell, took you a long time. But I'm glad you didn't rush it. Yet again, yet again, you take you skill with traditional, incorporate some technique you've gained through digital and carried it forward. I know I ran out of superlatives about a year ago but I've never known anyone who takes such huge leaps in their art with every single submission. Genuinely lost for words, I am. I don't know how you do it. This is a masterclass in all things from colour to interaction of light to anatomy.

Titles are actually one of the hardest parts of art for me. While in person the physical thing needs no title it's a different story when it comes to online - it's often one of the first things viewers see and it needs to make the piece seem appealing enough to view but also introduce the story/theme of the art. If you're like me and aren't very serious natured it can be a nuisance to choose between a comical, witty or sensible title. But it's good to know you like what I do!
With the colouring I do favour bright, bold colours but I also love atmospheric dark tones so there's a bit of a style clash there haha. I'm happy with how the dank murky swamp environment came out - I especially had fun with the gooey green slop too, the highlights and shading were a worthy challenge.
While I do like anthro I am also partial to ferals especially when it comes to dragons - in fact basically all of mine are feral aren't they? That says a lot. I'll admit this pose was a shameless excuse to throw a butt shot in there I think it worked well. Anatomy is also something I'm trying to take more seriously like with Gebbu. Personally I think my style is an odd one: it's in no way super happy toony Looney Tunes-esque like so many other artists mimic but it's definitely not hyper-realistic either. I want mine to be a mix of believable anatomy while still having a playing charm to the overall art. It's a work in progress but I hope it's good enough so far.
Taking time is always worth it. I used to be happy with getting as many pictures out as fast as I could but I think quality suffers that way (unless rough/scruffy is the intended look) but now I'd rather work at my own pace and add as many details as I can...hence why backgrounds initially planned to be blank end up fully landscaped like this...
Thanks a million for your continued support, it means a lot you like my art so much. I can't wait for you to see this in person one day, there's still no way of technology perfectly recreating the traditional original!

Any excuse for a butt shot is welcome. ;D It's still a tricky pose and you've drawn it well! And AHH you said it first, you want me to see it in person! We gotta meet up again! And also so I can deliver your birthday present from earlier in the year. :D
Wait a minute... Who's that watching from beyond the treeline? :O #voreyeur

Ah! I included that extra background detail to see who would see it first and let me know just how much attention people are paying to my art beyond the main subject(s)! If anyone was gonna spot it, it'd be you and your eagle eyes haha. You may have noticed I often talk about in my descriptions (which most people most likely skip because furs can't be arsed to read...) big beasts and nasty biomechanical monsters in Enigma's world. I haven't really managed to draw much of them yet but they are definitely there and certainly a big threat (hence why Ryuu has to protect the Yunmue). I like to think that while Void 'owns' this swamp he is not alone - swamps are very foreboding environments as they are so it's a perfect home for dangerous creatures. I could've left out the glowing eyes but I'm a sucker for world building and I think it adds a bit of creepy mystery. Who knows, maybe it's watching in jealousy because it wanted to eat Enigma first haha. I won't go on too much but you'll be seeing some concepts for these things soon!
Butt shots! I think now I look back I've sneaked a LOT of booty shots in, among other playfully suggestive things - it's just my sense of humour of trying to get away with putting in kink/adult-ish things without actually being explicit.
Hopefully I won't be working so many shifts after the New Year so maybe we can arrange to meet up again in 2016. We don't need details here, that can wait for PMs on here or Twitter in the future. And I'd love to have the original of that gift so much! Hopefully I'll have done more traditional art to throw in your face by then too ;)
(Check us out and our super long comments as usual, we're doing the furry thing wrong! We should be leaving one sentence throwaway lines or even better one word comments)

Yeah, I think I've seen you mention them before. What didn't occur to me is that your characters occupy the same world. That's quite deep and you've really piqued my interest there too. It's a really interesting point you mention there, that Void isn't alone in his swamp. It sounds to me like a 'there's always a bigger fish' scenario. That mystery is really exciting me actually. XD Goodness knows what's watching Void and Enigma there... I suppose you're the only one who really knows and we're all left wondering what dangers there are in the world of your characters!
Yes, I figured you'd be taking that approach with the butt shot. I assume from this that you're like me in the sense that you want a piece of art to be admired for its quality and display of technical ability rather than, well, explicit stuff for the sake of explicit stuff. I think it's funny! :p
I can't wait to give you that gift. Without meaning to sound too arrogant, I'm so happy with how it came out and I really hope you'll like it! It's the least I could have done for you, seeing as a) it was your birthday and b) you got me the lovely Bristol board which is so pleasant to draw on! <3 I'm still so chuffed with that! I owe you lots of things for your kindness!
But back on topic with above, this piece is really exciting. Okay, you've got your two characters in the roles people expect them to play, but there's something going on behind the scenes which is now playing at me. It's really mysterious and believe me, I'll be looking ever more close at your artwork to glimpse any insight into the threats of Enigma's world!
And YAY long comments! Although I haven't filled my 'murr' quota so I'll balance it all off by saying that I wanna ruffle Void's fuzz. :p

I seriously still have no idea how you manage to do all of this with traditional medium, it completely boggles my mind! The attention to detail is really great! Poor Enigma, although he should really know by now that most things in life end with a dragon, and usually -inside- a dragon, to be more accurate!
How do I achieve results like this traditionally? Hyena gypsy magic mostly - drawing for 20 years and spending many nights over the past decade drawing the same thing over and over in frustration until I got it 'right' were just tiny little bits on the side. Jokes aside, all I know is that I certainly didn't learn the majority of my techniques from art class, and DEFINITELY not from GCSE Art - what a total shambles. "Draw this orange, but with dots instead", "Research this artist and write a few pages about it, don't even think about artistic creativity". Bah! If you really want me to try and give you another little tutorial on anything in person just let me know...who knows, we might even amass another gathering of randos at South Bank again haha.
I think people would start to worry if Enigma WASN'T inside a dragon or being eaten by some other thing, it's just the norm now!

The sloppiest swamp sludge that makes all the loud squelchy gloop sounds and will suck people like dumb hyenas in! Clearly Void is immune to sinking (quickly anyway, he can move in it pretty well but I'm sure if he let himself he would get stuck). It's fun to draw and it makes Void happy, smiles all round :D
Thanks <:

I've trawled through your scraps and saw you also dabble in traditional occasionally which is awesome! Do you find it easier than digital? I know there are a lot of technical limitations with what can be done on paper but personally I find traditional takes MUCH more concentration and can be stressful if you screw up (digital artists and their CTRL+Z safetynet, bah! ;D) but is much more rewarding when it's all done...and can create some effects that no computer could replicate! I dunno, I blabbered there but I'm just interested in other artists procedures.
Thanks for liking my crazy bright colours!

;U; heh yeah! I haven't done traditional stuff in a loooong time, I mainly did badges and such. I really enjoy coloring/shading traditionally and I really do miss doing it. I think traditional drawing is a bit more difficult in the sense of you dont have that "undo" safetynet. If you fuck up, you fuck up lol And digital stuff makes it easier to add lighting and effects/textures. It's for lazy bone people like me I suppose xD haha
But I agree, traditional art is a lot more satisfying when completed.

I'm not sure I've ever told you, but I freaking LOVE Void. he's hilarious, smug, sarcastic and a bunch of other things, and he doesn't even actually talk! I'd honestly love to see how you write him in like, a story or rp setting, where you could show more of like, how he thinks via his point of view or such like that. it'd be interesting to really see more into his mind :3
