It's VERY silent there. Almost freaky. And the weird thing is I can hear deer a quarter mile away in silence like that, people talking more than a third of a mile away. You can't hear anything there until they are just barely entering view. o.o
In there, it's like the forest is listening to YOU.
p.s. a new experience hunting for the reply to comment and add reply buttons on such a giant image @_@

If you live anywhere within about 300 miles of the American east coast, you live within 100 miles or so of the Appalachian Trail. It's historic, and yet only 90 years old this year. It's over 2000 miles long, and has a European continuation in spirit in the International Appalachian Trail, check it out: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Inter.....alachian_Trail
You absolutely need to hike this sometime in your life. It's a place free of war, or politics, drama, noise, all the fear and hate we live with. It's really accessible, and really remote too. It passes through a town and is only about 40 miles away from the densest thickest parts of New York City!
And this is just one little spot, it just feels like it goes on forever. :) Hike the AT.
