This was the first character I ever created. Sometime between the age of 5-6.
Earlier drawings this character/species looked more like Yoshi with some cat features added. Naturally my drawings have improved since then. :P

Peekers can be black, grey, and brown. They are feral and have about the intelligence of a cat, though you may find the occasional intelligent Peeker who may try to watch over someone or serve as a guide, leading the person to a place they should go. I believe the name "Peeker" came from that watching idea.
