Okay...I admit that I haven't seen the x49 episode since it first aired on cartoon network so the only things I remember is I loved x49 and cried for nearly 2 hours after jack killed that kind and compassionate bot and it remains the darkest episode till his wife to be is erased.
You can force him to switch to another weapon - ask to trade, give him the weapon, then there should be an option to force him to equip it. Bad thing is though, he won't use the new choice unless he has ammo - companions run out of bullets on the guns they're given, but their stock ones are unlimited :( I was gonna give him a better gun too.
