Vipera Vixen's is not her original birth name. She was born in the 24th century AD. as Dolores Penelope Bluebell daughter of the Bluebell Barony in the Vupland Star System of the Solar Confederacy, and is in position to become the Baroness of the Bluebell fortune if she can successfully back-stab, bribe, seduce, or blackmail enough of her family! Vupland, especially the region where Dolores, Vipera, grew up in is not a cheery place. The capital which is near her families estate looks like if Albert Speer had designed Las Vegas. Monumental architecture with lots of neon lighting to shine through the Scottish-like fog, mist and rainy weather. Important Note. If Vipera finds out you know her birth name her first thought maybe to be shoot you in the lungs.
While only a Barony, the Bluebell family exercises far more influence than other "bigger" house on Vupland. Through careful investment and ruthless business practices they have made Bluebell Heavy industries one of the most important companies throughout the entire Solar Confederacy. Ten percent of all tonnage in the Solar Confederacy shipping was built by Bluebell. Twelve percent of all terra-forming equipment used in Confederacy has their label on it. From projects as large as public transit systems to waste treatment plants, down to things as small as consumer appliances Bluebell Heavy Industries (BHI) is a name to be reckoned with with. BHI also designs and manufactures ordnance of all sizes. Here are some of their wares.
For quick handling and fast suppressive fire the BHI Spittenzappen rapid pulse laser carbine is made for the job. With its collapsible stock, quick change power cell, and generous heat sinks on the laser barrel the Spittenzappen is perfect for boarding parties, assault teams, close quarter battles.
If longer range and more devastating power are needed then the BHI Sturmhurtz gauss rifle is your ticket to decisive victory! Capable of a wide range of velocity settings up to 6km per second, and able to fire a range of 5.25mm projectiles the Sturmhurtz is a leader amongst slug-chuckers! With additional heat sinks and optional HD power cells plus expanded ammo unit it can provide light sustain-fire capability for fast assault teams.

It is also rather similar to a Type3C Federation Phaser rifle.

Ah, fond of the Mannlicher stock are you. I remember passing up a chance in college to buy a Ruger No1 International for a song which had the full Mannlicher stock. It was in Win .243 and remember thinking it was neat piece of hardware but didn't see any need for a single shot rifle at the time. Doh! Especially since the guy was willing to part with it for less than $400.00 with a nice little Burris scope on it to. He was desperate for school money but I still needed to buy textbooks to. Feh!
That would have certainly been a sound investment! Those are some very nice rifles.
I myself have had my eye on a nice CZ-550 FS. They're really great looking rifles, and apparently shoot just as well. I need to talk to a buddy of mine at the gun show and see if he can't order one for me.

Oh Vupland can be exciting! Imagine one of the Italian Renaissance cities like Florence. Then give high-tech and faster-than-light travel, but not communications, and have them operating in loosely enforced, fluid confederacy with no strong central authority. That's the world that the industrial houses/ families live in. The Bluebells end looking like a mix of Medici and Borgia families of old.
The interesting thing about most of the families is that one can be born into a title but without personal achievement one can not wield real power in the family or company. Only those who apply themselves and strive to excel hold the real reins of power!
Also to answer your last question about naming of weapons, yep they all have that dark gallows humor to them. Hey what can I say I'm punster even in my sleep!

Actually her family is not aware that she is a space pirate, smuggler, slaver, extortionists, bank robber, rock star, or on one world porn actress. She has kept multiple aliases across the Solar Confederacy and in many cases is traveling to the 24th, 21st, 19th, and 14th century in my dreams to carry out her nefarious schemes.
To answer a possible question in your mind no they don't have time travel technology on Vupland, but Vipera hasn't let something as boring as time/ dimensional travel limitations keep her from profit or a good time. Besides if Petina can do it so can she! Lousy little mouse!

Say what you will about her morality, she definitely leads an exciting life. She is the kind of character that people will be talking about centuries later, perhaps even romanticizing to the point of historical inaccuracy. I wonder if she gets a kick out of reading about her exploits in the 14th and 19th centuries and seeing out they've romanticized her from heartless scoundrel to anti-hero.
That does raise the question, though: Have 24th century historians noticed similar trends in the appearance of a vixen pirate? Talk about your conspiracy theories!

Actually while she is traveling to the 14th, 19th, 21st,and 24th century they are not in the same reality. To best of my knowledge the Solar Confederacy, Angel and Knight, and Andur are all separate realities. In fact I know Andur is in a different reality to Angel and Knight because there different geological features in Northeast Africa. I've only seen her a couple of times in my dreams that she's been 19th century so I don't know whether that one is connected to any other reality or not. Hope that makes sense.
The Albert Speer/Las Vegas bit got a big laugh outta me!
I love the overall streamlining of proven designs, You show your historic eye and design sense, as in the Shark-fin stocked MG-42 ala 25th century, whilst the Spittenkillenhurtenbanging reminds me of the Beretta and CZ creations of the late 20's and 30's... Fine work, it's often hard for SF artists to get a realisticly drawn weapon to look both "real" AND "hitech".... Very nice works.
