Mission, Indiana is a drama television series with elements of supernatural horror. It focuses on the lives of four individuals who's paths converge in the titular town, and follows their stories as they uncover the various mysteries of the town itself.
The first season ran for thirteen hour-long episodes, with two five minute webisodes that covered the events just before and just after the first season; the second webisode serves as a teaser for season two and formerly introduces the hitherto unseen character of Cardigan the Everywhere Man. The first season focuses on the disappearance of Caroline Hobbes, a seven-year-old girl who was reportedly kidnapped by Jamie Wash, a family friend, in Ohio. FBI Special Agents Sabrina Ayers and Duke Harrison are dispatched to find the two, and their investigation leads to the small town of Mission, Indiana. The two begin to suspect that there may be dark secrets buried in the town's history, secrets that Wash intends to use Hobbes to exploit.
At the same time, the narrative follows an additional two characters who's stories run alongside, and sometimes intersect, the investigation. A young woman who refers to herself only as “L” has arrived in town at the same time as the FBI Special Agents. She insists that her father, who she calls “M”, is somewhere in Mission, and that the two of them belong to a secret organization that hunts monsters. Meanwhile, a man named Francis Chad Monday wakes up next to the highway that cuts through town. He can remember his life up to June 2nd, 1964, but after that date he recalls no time passing, and he does not seem to have aged at all during his missing time. Monday's episodes alternate between 1964 and 2016 as he tries to unravel what happened to him.
