This is just a quick little piece I did to try out some different colored pencils. I used the Blick Studio Artists' Colored Pencils from Dick Blick, and my substrate is cold-pressed illustration board.

I'm actually pretty pleased with the way the pencils work and feel. They have a LOT in common with the Caran d'Ache Pablo pencils, but cost about a quarter as much (!). They're perhaps a little bit more waxy in texture, but they layer extremely well.

The dragon also has a red-orange agate stone on its head.
