Looks really nice. Whats the approximate speed your film runs? My dry plates seem to go about ASA 1-2.5 depending on their age. Do you shoot the most open f stop you can, or cut them down with long exposures? Ive been using an opd GE exposure meter simply because it goes slow enough for my plates, do you just eyeball your exposure?
The time varies with the age of the collodion. I initially calculate for an ISO of 1 then run a test plate based on that. This one was shot in the shade, around a hour before sundown with a light haze but lots of blue sky at F5.6 for eight seconds.
If I need to stop down I will, it depends on the subject. I'd rather not shoot portraits of more than 8 sec. Still life, it doesn't matter, I use a monster of a tripod.
I will use a meter, but usually only to gauge general light changes throughout the day. Most meters don't do a good job measuring the UV you need for collodion. I think dry plate is about the same..
