What you see here is my newest character, Matrim. There's a reason for all those swirls on his fur, but let's start at the beginning.
Eight hundred years ago there existed a village in the mountains, which still exists today. It has no name, so you'll never be able to find it. But that's not the point.
The village leader, Mathew, decided he'd take up an ancient (even for that time) challenge. He'd have to climb Starry Vision, the tallest mountain in the range.
Starry Vision is the tallest mountain in the(ir) world. It extends all the way into space. At the top, there is little to no air and the temperature is so low you'll need more than a few blankets to keep warm.
Mathew, being the genius he was, built a very early (and I mean -very- early) space suit. It consisted mostly of crudeness with a bit of ingenuity sewn in.
He began his climb up Starry Vision. Even though it was miles and miles high, he somehow found the strength to keep going. The sky got darker and the temperature lower...
At long last he reached the top. He could see the whole world from where he was... well... the parts on this hemisphere, anyway. He began hearing things... the mountain itself was speaking to him.
What it said is a secret. (You'll have to climb yourself one day if you want to know.) But apparently he responded the right thing, because the next thing he knew a gret wind had picked up and was carrying cosmic soot on it. His spacesuit was blown clear off his body... it just disinigrated.
The wind surrounded Mathew and began covering him in the soot, staining his arctic fox fur with black swirls, decorating him. He suddenly fell unconcious at Starry Vision's will...
He woke up at his own home, still covered in the soot. He tried to wash it out in the river, but it stayed. He noticed that it didn't wreck the texture of his fur, and even looked completely natural.
Over time he found that he wasn't aging. His friends and family were getting older around him, but he stayed the same... even more interesting was his newfound ability to control wind. Over time (which he had lots of) he fine tuned his skills and harnessed the ability.
Eventually he could do the most skillfull things from making giant tornadoes to the smallest balls of wind that were strong enough to stand on. (And he did indeed stand on them often, using them as in-line skates)
Eight hundred years later, he moved to the city of Dassa and fell in love with a woman named Martha. Society was much more advanced now, and when his son was being born a great wind swept into the hospital. He tried to call it off, but realized it wouldn't obey him.
The wind swept around Mathew, pulling the soot off his fur and transferring it to his newborn son, Matrim. The doctors had no idea what was happening, but had no time to stop what they were doing and dismissed it as an overloaded AC problem.
Mathew began to feel older... and he couldn't control the wind any more... But his son continued to age at a normal pace, and he didn't show any signs of wind control. This lasted until Matrim was old enough to think for himself. (I don't really have a specific age x_X)
Sudden gales of wind kept appearing around Matrim. He felt a tingling in the back of his head before each time this happened, so he knew that even though he wasn't doing this, it happened because of him.
His parents did their best to try to help him. Removing the windstripes from his fur didn't work... they were impossible to remove. They thought about exorcising him, but that was a bit extreme. They had no options but to eventually have to velcro everything down in their house.
Matrim tries to live a normal life, but with these uncontrollable gusts of wind that are usually big enough to knock down several people at once, it's not that easy.
Here we see Matrim sitting at his desk in the third grade... it's not really in the middle of a random gale, but I just added the wind in the background for -some- kind of effect =P
(He eventually does learn to control it... but that's another story for another time.)
