Naw, I like Shadow a lot really, but the way Sega handles him (especially in his craptastic game) is usually pretty poorly, so he gets to be annoying at times. And he has too many stupid fangirls... that tends to sway my opinions towards certain characters at times Xp He's one of those characters I look at and see a lot of untapped potential going to waste.

But Knuckles is "Sonic's Friendly Nemsis," why not team up now and again? XD Certainly made a hell of a lot more sense than Amy Rose teaming up with the useless loli and the over-sized retard. XD

Big is not a retard. He's just simple-minded. Granted, it borders on clinical, but still. I hate it when people make light of mental conditions. And yeah, he's large, but all Sonic characters are round, even the chameleon.

I find it kind of interesting you liked him right away when before you were pretty upset whenever they add yet another character to the Sonic roster... As well as that your comments seem to imply you're going to have him eating someone later, when from what I've observed a tiny character like him is almost always made into a prey character.

But he's cuuuute.... so I wanna see him stuffed before he gets stuffed XD

Aaand yeah, generally I do hate new Sonic characters, and generally that hate turns out to be well founded... Silver, Marine, ....uhhh... I'll get back to you on Shade... XD (I'm on the fence since I haven't played Chronicles AND I'm sort of stoked to have a female echidna around so that I can finally see Knuckles paired off with someone who isn't a Whore or Dead XD) But Chip actually turned out to be a very likable character, so I can't complain about him. And he was a one-shot character too, so he won't be appearing in anything other than Unleashed, which leaves no one else on the "There are too many effing characters" fence with anything to complain about either since he won't be a reoccurring support character. Xp

I actually liked Silver because he was unique. While just about every other character in the cast has "speed" on their list of strengths, he's slow as molassas and has to rely on his powers to get anything done. It's just a shame the only games he's been in have been terrible. Cream I didn't like until a friend's... "influence" and Sonic Chronicles, where she grows up and actually asks to join the team (and will actually beg to come with you if you say no at first), unlike in Heroes where she was rather reluctant and needed constant reminding of what she was fighting for.

Ones like Marine, however, can suck it. Shame she's in one of the games considered to be good... >.>

Yeee-eah, Marine was the only real annoying part of the whole game XD and her little deus-ex-machina trick at the end was just baffling... it didn't make any sense that she would suddenly have such a power without any prior displayment of such nor any further explanation of it after the fact.

I have various reasons of disliking Cream, starting with her personality, meeting up with her incredible cheapness, and ending out with my absolute abhorrence of the idea of her being paired off with Tails just because they're supposedly of similar age.

Silver has redeeming qualities, but overall he just isn't that interesting. Plus there's the fact that his storyline is fucked to high heaven thanks to both Sonic '06 and Sonic Rivals. Then again Sonic '06 and Sonic Rivals kind of fuck over Blaze and Eggman Nega's origins too. Are they from the future or another dimension or what? What the Fuck is Going On?!?

Rest assured Cream is totally fair in Chronicles. She is the team cleric, so she has wet paper defenses while making up for by supporting the others (and while I spoil that she's optional, you do NOT want to miss her because the only other person with a reliable healing power is Tails, and even his isn't really all that realiable when you need to heal multiple people at once). She also seems to have screwed ordering Cheese to attack enemies in favor of simply chucking him at them. XP

Yeah, the Sonic canon has had a lot of continuity problems as of late... Though the fact Sonic '06 effectively renders the whole game nonexistant in the end kind of fixes that (at the cost of giving the players a slap in the face... then again, maybe I just don't like it when games end with the whole "it actually never happened" in the end).

Yeee-eah, but it still leaves the odd matter of Blaze... since she "wasn't in the dimension" when the universal reset occurred, were her actions reset as well or was she tossed into the Sonic Rush alternate dimension and protected from the reset? (which was their apparent cop-out explanation of why she was in the Future when we knew she was from another dimension)

To be perfectly honest I think they just had her in the future as an excuse to put her in another game since she was a relatively popular character... though to be honest I'm not really a fan of her, so I don't know all the details that come with her backstory.

Eggman Nega has now also been shown to exist both in the alternate dimension AND Silver's Future

I've never played any of the games with Eggman Nega, so all I know is that he's like Yami Bakura in that he seals people into cards, and is just as stupid as Yami Bakura because he's too busy wanting to prove his awesomness to bother doing it to the main hero.

While we're on the subject, I want to say I don't understand why, when people say that they should have stopped introducing characters after the original Genesis games, they include Amy in that list. They go as far as to say the only "true" characters are Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles because they were the first ones added. Don't they realize Amy was introduced into the series BEFORE Knuckles was?

And I don't believe for a second that they want EVERY new character to just "go away" either. I think they're just tired of the ridiculous gameplay that the new characters have been bringing to the table... like Big's fishing and Knuckle/Rouge's emerald hunting... What they really want is for those added gameplay modes to go away and since they relate those modes to certain characters they wind up blaming it all upon the character itself. Because, as stated, They Are All Retarded.

Granted, some characters, like Big and Marine, are generally unlikeable characters and SHOULD be removed from the continuity... However, I believe that if we were simply given a Sonic game for console which follows either the "old school" or Sonic Advance or even Sonic Rush gameplay styles and then added those other characters into the game in the same manner as adding Tails and Knuckles to Sonic 2 and 3, then I think people would stop complaining about the new characters really fucking quick. So long as the game followed the classic speed formula I think everything would be okay. It'd be just like the classic games or Sonic Advance, with each character simply bring a few slightly different techniques to the playing field that allow them to reach areas which other characters can't(Just like with Tails and Knuckles in Sonic 2 and 3).
