Dec. 9th Las Vegas, Nevada
1:37 was left on the 4th quarter as Serra jogs down along the court with San Jose up by 4. Lawyer tried to keep focus as the Meerkat began to transition across the front court of the basket while the once famous Baltimore star in Moby was behind him. Serra quickly dishes a quick pass over to Blythe, but he was quickly isolated by a double team on Shannon and Zindendel. Jon saw it and used his quick speed, along with the help of a screen by Barnaby Jazz, to be open for a 19” footer. Nacht gives a quick bounce pass to Lawyer as the meerkat runs to his favorite spot to shoot. However, the meerkat felt some kind of shove and he fell to the ground and the whistle blows for a turnover.
Jon quickly got up with a furious look on his face. He knew he just got shoved and who did it, but no ref called on it. He walked right towards Moby with eyes filled with anger as he screams, “Who the FUCK do you think you are pushing me like that you overgrown pile of roadkill!?!?!”
The squirrel only gave him a glare as he turned to face Lawyer. “You heard the whistle rook, it’s out on you. Not my fault you tripped like an ignorant drunk.” Moby said in a cold tone.
“Fuckin’ bull shit!!!!” Jon shouted. “Yo’ bitch ass SHOVED me and you fucking know it!!!”
Moby walked up to him, inches from Jon’s face, with a scowl as he said “Then what the fuck are ya gonna do about it?”
“THIS!!”
The meerkat shoved Moby as hard as he could and the officials blew their whistles multiple times. They quickly got in the middle of it, along with other teammates who are on the court to break the two up. The meerkat continues to scream in anger, swearing like a mad kat as he was forced to sit on the bench while Moby stayed quiet and sat down willingly.
Boos filled up the stadium quickly as Jon crossed his arms. Teammates and coaches alike are filling his ears with disapproval of what he just did. During all the commotion, the refs took a few minutes to huddle up and discussed what fouls will be given. After they made the decision, the head official (official name) said, “Number 4 of the San Jose Thrust will receive a flagrant-2 foul!! He must be escorted to the locker rooms immediately!!”
Jon quickly got up and screamed, “ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDIN’ ME?!?!”
A couple of the Thrust trainers walks over to him and quickly takes him to towards the locker room. Jon grumbled exceedingly, but was willing to go back to the locker room. As he walks back, the Vegas crowd mocks the Kat, cheering as he exits from courtside. Jon knocked a few Infuriade bottles off of a nearby table, showing his frustrations. When he made it to the locker room and is left alone, he took off his jersey and threw it across the room. He then punched a locker close to him and sat on the bench, covering his face. He knew messed up.
----**----
Reiko Akemi sat in her office, her hands folded over her lap. The smaller tanuki kept her gaze trained straight at the door, expecting a knock on the door any minute.
A small knock began as a small sigh was heard as the voice of Jon was heard, “Comin’ in…”
“Then come in, Lawyer-san,” said the tanuki.
He slowly opened the with a shameful look on his face. He slowly sat down in one of the chairs that was in front of him and scratched the back of his head a little. “Ok… I know that I messed up….” He said quietly. “But he fuckin’ shoved me, what was I supposed to do?”
Reiko simply paused, maintaining her glance at Jon. “Well, at least you recognize your fault,” she began. “But I think, Lawyer-san, you don’t recognize it -quite- enough.”
“I’m sorry, but that asshole knocked me over and they let his ass get away with.” the meerkat said in a little of an angry tone. “I was treated unfairly and what’s worst I was the only one punished for it! I know I was in the wrong, but damn it he was too!!”
“Referees miss things quite frequently,” Reiko replied, sitting perfectly still. “Fair or not, it is not in your best interest to shout down other players, and especially not to shove them to the floor the way you did.”
The meerkat sighed as he looks down. “Of course… trying to defend myself against an asshat like him makes me the bad guy…” he said quietly. “Fuckin’ hate Vegas…”
Reiko shifted slightly, remaining rather focused on Jon. “I think they are… unprofessional, myself,” said Reiko. “But I hold back, in the interest of professionalism.” She paused, before nodding. “I do not doubt your side of the story, Lawyer-san. But resorting to violent measures? Absolutely unprofessional. And is that any better than the fact you received the shove in the first place?”
“No…” he said softly. “I’m sorry that I acted the way I did. I know it doesn’t only make me look bad… but it makes this entire franchise look bad. I’ll try my best not to embarrass the Thrust ever again.”
Reiko nodded. “Thank you, Lawyer-san,” she said. It was then she stood up, walking over to where Jon stood. Even as she stood considerably shorter than Jon, her piercing gaze still gave him reason to pause. “I believe this is the first time I have seen your temper show itself. Be careful not to let it grow: I have the feeling it will consume you if you don’t control it.”
Lawyer nodded slowly. “I will try and keep a cool head,” he said as he smiled, slowly getting up. “I’ll keep it clean for the rest of the season. You don’t need to worry about me too much Ms. Akemi.”
“See to it that you do,” said Reiko. “I think you have the potential to be a great player, Lawyer-san, but like all great players, there is always one fault that you must work on. This may be it.”
“Noted,” Jon said. “And next time we see the Cards, I’ll make sure to give them something to remember me by... the right way.”
“Good,” said Reiko. She nodded. “Well, that is all I wish to address. You may go now.”
The meerkat nodded. “Alright Ms. A-san, I’ll catch ya later!!” He says as he begins to exit the office, holding up a peace sign.
Reiko watched as Jon left the office. As soon as he was gone, she nodded, turning back to her desk and chuckling. “Miss A-san,” she said. She gave a coy smile. “I think I quite like that.”
She then turned to her desk, before walking over and looking at the paperwork. “Still, I hope he can do as he says,” she said. “I hope Foo-foo-sama can help with that…”
