I Have a Bad Feeling About This....(Star Wars)
You really didn't think I wouldn't say something about the "big movie" at the end of the year did ya? Well ok, it's next week, but lets face it, everybody's going to be talking crazy about it THEN. So let's bring it on back and see what we're going to be prepared for.
Yes, I've seen every Star Wars thus far, and a little on the various series here and there (including a very weird Droids movie). But am I a Star Wars fanatic? Nope, but there's sure plenty of them. And why not? When the first movie came out, it was a hit. And 'space opera', as it's been called, has extended so far with additional media (mostly brought forth in books from several writers), that it's a staple of science fiction.
It's got something for everyone. Big tyranical government? Thank the Palpatine, the guy who probably inspired Voldemort down the line somewhere. Dangerous odds? How about all those Smugglers, like fan-favorite Han Solo? Want a bit of magic? Ok, not magic technically, but close enough is the Jedi and the Sith. Want a cool weapon? Come now...if Star Wars doesn't get ya, the Lightsaber will (hopefully not in the lethal way).
The Star Wars franchise has mostly come from the movies, but expanded upon in books to give even minor characters some big stories. Know that bounty hunter dude with the headwrap? He's got a story, he has a wife and saved one of the most dangerous bounty hunters in the galaxy. That reptile-lookin that was on Vader's ship? He's the son to a crime boss. And Jabba? Do I have to say how extensive HIS story with Solo goes? (yes, I do. I'm reading it tah!)
But of course, what am I saying. YOU all know Star Wars....right?
Well let's assume you do, because I can not go into the details of ALL this stuff. So lets stick to the hype of the new film.
I've purposely left myself out of the loop for this one. Let's face it...most movies aren't too entertaining because people can pick at it with exclusives and the internet and make some of the film lose it's momentum and surprise. So I'm ignorant to most of it, which is a good thing.
All I know is it's about this new group of youngsters (oh big surprise Disney) being brought together through fate for some reason or another...and some sith with a lightsaber that's got a whole short film dedicated to making fun of it.
Personally, way back, I've READ what could have happened AFTER Episode 6. Seriously, I had thought these next three episodes would explore Leia as a Jedi, but more importantly, HER KIDS. Guess who daddy is...
But who knows, maybe I'm spoiling things here. Maybe the main characters of Episode 7 are actually....nope, stay ignorant tah!
Anyway! I'm not 100% sure if I'll be able to catch the film with one of the recon probes, but I'm hopeful. Still, I hope it lives up to....
Actually that's another thing I should mention real quick. Everyone remembers that Mega-Corporation-In-Charge-of-Childhood-Souls, Disney, (what? a lot of you are thinking it) owns Star Wars now. Which means the film BETTER do good. I mean, look at how Star Trek's revival went (and those fans can be vicious).
Star Wars had been under Lucas for the first two trilogies, and now the last one is handed over to Disney...who's track of "epic" films are...uhh...not sure actually. It's a pause for thought really on if they're up to the task of finishing this trilogy and living up to Star Wars' potential. From what I've seen in the trailer, it looks promising...so lets all cross our fingers.
I will give them one thing, bringing back the original actors (and kudos for them wanting to come back after so long), is a big boon. Hopefully it's not a draw in celebrity-wise and they're aiming for the "star power" to keep the trilogy afloat.
But please...no more Jar Jar...he was funny for a few seconds here and there but....no...please...no...
Anyway, the hype up and atom, I pulled Doru away from Randall (of which he was thankful for) to dive into a Star Wars simulation of Mos Eisley. HE of course...wanted to be a Jedi. Well Padawan anyway, not giving him the impression he could move senate podiums after all. Me? I went Smuggler. Jedi powers are nice and all, but I figured I like the role. Anyway...naturally, trouble sparks...and...well you can guess how the situation goes. Pew pew, splat, slash slash, run run RUN.

My favorite thing in Star wars was the ships, from Fighters to big class ones. When I was a kid, I used to make up kooky little adventures of various genres. One of them included me leading fleet of Star Wars cruisers. My current favorite is the red Republic Cruiser from Episode 1.
I don't know why everyone hates the Sith Guy's lightsaber, it's design makes it different enough to be interesting, though it does hold the risk of slicing a finger off. And it wasn't the first weird design. In Force Unleashed 1, Maris Brood used Light Tonas and Kazdan Paratus used a staff with a light saber tip.
I also share the same feelings towards Disney, though the Avengers films looked pretty decent.

Oooh yeah, the ships. Not sure on favorites, but I'll pick the underdogs like the Outrider and the Moldy Crow.
Another good thing, there are so many characters to make figures with, and so many ships, that you can roleplay with'em for your own stories. Not so much these days I imagine though...
*shrugs* Probably some critical Star Wars poking there. It's "different" from the regular lightsaber, so poke a little fun. I've seen the vid and, yes, I laughed. But hey, not to say it isn't a bad design. The side beams could act as a "hook" of sorts to pull an opposing lightsaber away, effectively disarming an opponent.
Lightsabers generally fell to being either a "single blade", two "single blades", or when it came out, the "double blade". But being more inventive with the beam just shows creativity.
I'm not saying Disney is bad or anything, but they own two huge franchises in Marvel and Lucas now. The Avengers (and yeah, seen'em) DID come out spectacularly. BUT, lets remind ourselves of the things they're changing. I mean...Thor's becoming a woman now, remember? It's just irking to think that there IS a possibility something MIGHT happen.
(though, from my reading of things after Episode 6, there IS something really emotional that MIGHT happen to a character that's very beloved. If they decided to work with that, they better make it right)

Oh I'm definitely going to see the new movie, hope it lives up to expectations. But first I gotta re-watch episodes 1-6 again and I have the blu-ray special edition set in hd with re-master sound so it's gonna be epic.
As for the new crossguard lightsaber I kind of like it despite it being different. Anyway if you've watched Star Wars Rebels then you know they're changing it up in regards to the functionality of the jedi's choice of weapon. Also speaking of lightsabers I ordered my own from a site called ultrasabers.com, they got some really great stuff there as their lightsaber are like movie quality good. However I must warn you that they are pretty expensive, especially the new crossguard ones.
"These are not the diapers you're looking for?"...Dorumon is so hilarious. A really funny take on such a famous star wars quote. I thought he'd still be hanging around Randall but glad to see that you're spending time with the kid.

Oui. I haven't see the others in...a long time. Doubt I have them anywhere nearby...good thing I kinda-sorta remember most of it.
I've only watch like...the first couple episodes of Star Wars Rebels before Disney pulled a separate channel for'em. Why pay for a lightsaber handle when when we got gleamers in the weapons bin ^0^
Oui, wish he didn't particularly say it that way -_- On come on! Mine was about that whole controversy of who shot first, Han or Greedo. Though to be honest I'm more with Ford on the matter with "I don't know, I don't care".
Oh he WOULD be hanging around Randall, yeah, but I had to drag him away before he got uhh...testy.
