Football primer: The Champions League is a competition for the top clubs in Europe, which runs alongside the other competitions, on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, during every season. It's just finished the group stages, leaving the best sixteen teams in the knockout competition starting in January. The top four clubs in last year's Premier League take part in the Champions League; Arsenal have qualified for the last sixteen years and always get to the knockout stages, but never win it. They're also very consistent in the Premier League - for the last ten seasons they've finished either third or fourth. Their fans are famous for believing that every year is the year they're going to win something! Meanwhile, West Brom fans fondly remember the glorious season of 1919-20, when the league started up again after the Great War and the Baggies were the champions. They're still hoping that one day they might win it again...
