The first Tom and Jerry short, "Puss Gets The Boot" was released over 75 years ago in 1940.
They were a favorite of mine when I was a kitten as seen in this old photo from the mid 70's.
I think they really had an effect on me with their often violent slapstick comedy.
I also liked how there was very little dialogue, so they relied on music and body language / facial expressions to convey feelings and emotions. In fact, whenever Tom made a sound, he was usually yelling in agony and pain.

A big inspiration for "I Hate Myself For Oven You" , that's why I used the Tom and Jerry theme for the intro and the 70's Saturday morning cartoon theme for the end credits.

That video is still one of my proudest achievements. I was in a lot of pain after filming that, so I know what Tom was going thru in those cartoons. You know you made a good cartoon when you HURT the next day. XD
One of my favorite cartoons of all time is "The Cat Concerto" which inspired "Greifer's Greatest Hits"

Happy 75th to two longtime cartoon heroes of mine.
And ya know , I DO have some extra black and grey fur here...
I think I need a Butch fursuit. :)

In case you didn't know, Bill Hanna did Tom's screaming.
The cartoons were fun, but I like Droopy and Tex Avery's work better when it comes to MGM cartoons. At least they do appear in some of the recent Tom and Jerry made-for-video movies (like "Tom and Jerry Meet Sherlock Holmes.")
Funny thing; I have a huge DVD library of animation, and the only "Tom and Jerry" I own are those crazy Gene Deitch ones from the early '60s! (the ones that inspired "Worker and Parasite" on the Simpsons!)
