In the story Sour Grapes Chronicles https://www.fimfiction.net/stories/.....pes+Chronicles Werekitty and I have a fair number of characters who are fun to write, although some we use more than others. Here Foxenawolf http://www.furaffinity.net/user/foxenawolf/ has done a great job in bringing Firestormer to life.
Firestormer the Pyro Storm Specialist is one such character. He's great when you need someone to react to or comment on something happening in the main story. We've tried not to just make him a one note character, fleshing him out in many little ways.
He's young, brash and quite proud when it comes to the skills he possesses, and yet for his 'hotshot sky-jockey' attitude most of the time, put him in a crisis situation and all that boils away leaving a surprisingly intense sense of duty and responsibility. ...and he's allergic to apples, (much to Applejack's astonishment)
While not anywhere as fast as Rainbow Dash (who is, really?) he does specialise in maneuverability able to perform hairpin turns.
His relationship with the storm-riders is definitely the 'Cool Brother' type, and he and Queenie the Cold Weather Specialist is somewhat adversarial-ish brother/sister with both joking that he is "the brother she never wanted".
Due to a foalhood trauma he became obsessed with understanding fire and how to bring it under his control. He learned about heat and flame in all it's forms from Firefighters and scholars but his most treasured moment of this journey of discovery happened when he apprenticed to a circus fire-eater for a season. He learned a great deal from Hay-burner and she taught him how to play with fire without losing control. How to juggle it, eat it for breakfast and belch flame in every color of the rainbow like a dragon.
