Things you can and can't do:
♦ | It is not required to follow the specie's canon.
♦ | Kiuns you receive can only be used for personal projects and cannot be used commercially.
♦ | You are only allowed to resell designs that you purchased with real currency. You cannot resell designs that you traded for. Designs can only be purchased for their purchase price or less, with additional costs added for commissioned artwork.
♦ | You are free to commission artwork, sculptures, etc of your Kiun but you are allowed to sell merchandise of them (e.g. prints, products, etc).
♦ | It is required to follow the rarity guide.
General Kiun Info / Canon:
♦ | Kiun is pronounced as "ki-yun".
♦ | They are genderless therefore they cannot breed sexually. But they can still form romantic relationships. However if a romantic Kiun couple performs the ritual called the Rite of Life, they are gifted with a baby Kiun which they consider their own child.
♦ | They have a natural affinity for earth and they are able to understand other creatures and animals. Because of this, they have difficulties in eating meat. Kiuns expect all other Kiuns to eat plants and fruits instead and it is considered taboo to eat meat. A small percentage of Kiuns do eat meat tho.
♦ | Kiuns perform magic using a medium or catalyst. This can be a consumable one (such charms and beads) or one that breaks after continous use (such as staffs and grimoires). It takes years of dedicated practice in order to perform magic without a medium.
♦ | All Kiuns are androgynous. However, they can easily use magic to make themselves appear more masculine or feminine. Most feminine Kiuns use magic to develop breasts and fuller hips.
♦ | They have a life expectancy of 70 ~ 80 years.
♦ | Their heights range from 5 ~ 6" and averages at about 5-5'5".
♦ | Kiuns live in the planet called Glailea. At the center of Glailea is the Tree of Qirin which is considered the main source of life at the planet. The tree of Qirin connects Glailea to all other planets via portals that are located underneath the tree. Because of this connection, Glailea gets infected by the miasma of other planets. Kiuns are pretty special because they have eyes that can see miasma. Miasma is basically a manifestation of bad karma. If the miasma if left alone to manifest, it can shapeshift into creatures that can harm Kiuns. Because of this, the Priestess of Glailea appointed several strong Kiuns to vanquish the Miasma. The Priestess also gathers an expedition team in order to vanquish miasma in other planets. Vanquishing miasma in other planets lessens the chance of miasma forming in Glailea. Miasmas that have shapeshifted are aggressive and will attack a Kiun at sight. Because of this, a Kiun needs to undergo a physical and magical assessment test in order to see if a Kiun can survive in said planet.
Trait Info:
♦ | The Child of Thorn mutation is a genetic mutation that drastically affects the Moushuu. It hinders the Kiun's absorption and regulation of magic. Kiuns with this mutation often have short lives and absorb little to no magic. This mutation turns the moushuu into that of hard and sharp thorny vines. These vines can easily be controlled and manuevered by the Kiun and is usually used in battle. In order to survive, they usually consume magic beads. These magic beads are magically loaded by other Kiuns to consume when their magic levels are critically low. All Kiuns with this mutation do not have ear puffs so consuming magic beads should be done great care in order to not damage their organs.
♦ | Gems have a 10% chance of appearing on a Kiun. These gems act as additional magic storage and it can boost their abilities depending on the location. The origin and cause of the appearance of these gems are unknown. Gems on the forehead usually boosts the Kiun's overall magic skill. Kiuns with this gem type usually are more successful in performing high level magic. Gems on the chest boosts the Kiun's health and vitality, making them a bit more hardier than other Kiun's. These Kiuns are also less likely to get blighted by Miasma. Gems on the hands boosts the overall magic power and effectiveness. Offensive magic usually is more powerful than average while defensive magic are not easily cancelled and has longer durations. Potions made by Kiuns with this gem type heals a lot better than potions made by regular Kiuns. Healer type Kiuns are also a lot more effective that regular healers. Gems on the feet boosts increases the Kiun's speed, agility and leg power. Kiuns with this gem type are perfect for battle due to their nimbleness. Most of the time, these Kiuns usually drop the use of magic all together in battle.
♦ | Horn growths of any kind and amount are mutations that happen very rarely. Most Kiuns will look at you weirdly if you have horns.
Health, illness, injuries:
♦ | All Kiuns are subject to common illnesses like colds, fever, stress, allergies, etc. Kiuns can also have some serious illnesses like vital organ diseases, mental disorders, etc.
♦ | They can be cured with the help of healer Kiuns or Kiuns with air / water / light magic elements. Tho some serious illnesses require multiple healers to cure them.
♦ | An illness fairly common for those that fight miasma are Blights. Blights basically infects and deteriorates the body slowly. Blights cannot be detected immediately when basing from a Kiun's physically appearance and actions. Blights can only be detected early by having a Kiun's blood examined and tested. At later stages of the illness, dark purple bruise like patches appear on the body which spreads as the illness worsens. Kiuns with late stages of Blights usually also experience schizophrenia and bipolarity. There are also situations where a Kiun slowly becomes sadistic and murderous as the Blight worsens. It is recommended for all miasma exposed Kiun to have their blood examined for early detection of Blight. Early stages of Blight can only be cured by a group of adept healers with light magic elements. At least 2 Kiuns are needed for early stages of Blight. Late stages need a group of at least 6 - 7 expert healers with light magic elements. But even with a large group of healers, the chance of curing Blight completely for late stages is about 25 - 40%.
♦ | Kiuns are also subject to injuries like scratches. Small injuries can easily be cured by disinfecting and bandaging. Larger injuries like large cuts, injuries near vital organs and wounds that continuously bleed need immediate attention. Non healer Kiuns with air / water / light magic can perform first aid for large wounds but the injured Kiuns still need immediate attention from a healer to prevent the injury from worsening.
Other Kiun Info:
♦ | Kiuns can freely choose what job they'd like to do. Some jobs: blacksmiths, healers, librarians, scholars, adventurers, farmers, jewelers, alchemist, lumberjacks, merchants, etc. Some jobs have special requirements tho.
♦ | Kiuns love to dress up!
♦ | Kiuns can twitch their ears slightly. They can also swivel them a bit back and forth. Perked ears cannot be dropped down (like droops) while droppy ears cannot be raised up (like perks).
♦ | The longer the Kiun's Moushuu is, the better it is at absorbing magic. It is normal for Kiuns to have shin length moushuu.
♦ | Kiun's are given a special grimoire at the coming of age ceremony. These grimoires hold all the spells and rituals known by the Kiun. If they forget a spell or ritual, they can easily refer to their grimoire. These grimoires appear whenever the owner wants it to. They do not need to carry it. They cannot use their grimoire as a medium when performing magic. When a Kiun learns a new spell or ritual, it is automatically written on the grimoire.
♦ | During the coming of age ceremony (which happens once a year for all 16 year old Kiuns), Kiuns need to choose 1 magic element that they'd like to focus on.
♦ | Most adventurer Kiuns take on various odd jobs posted by other Kiuns. These odd jobs can be found posted on the bulletin board outside of inns and pubs. There are some vanquishing quests for stray miasma.
♦ | Weapon type mediums are fairly common. Kiuns using these type of mediums cannot perform long-range magic. Weapon types are the best for those with small magic vessels because it does not consume much magic. Spells used with these types are usually strength enhancing ones or those that bestow magic element.
♦ | Kiuns that travel to earth use magic to change their appearance to that of humans. Earth has low amounts of magic so Kiuns usually bring a good amount of magic beads in order to survive. The technology of humans really astonishes Kiuns. Most humans are weirded out by Kiuns and rarely do humans know that there are Kiuns among them. Heck, it is already rare for humans to know about Kiuns.
