Elder Ran Dre had his family murdered by humans when he was still an egg. His adopted father purchased his egg from the black market, thinking it was just a pretty rock but when it hatched, took the little hatch-ling in as his own child. Ran's adopted father was a computer hacker and a scientist who was in exile after working for the Crest corporation. After Ran's father was murdered by bounty hunters hired to assassinate him, Ran devoted his life to computer espionage in working to destroy the Crest Corporation. He wears a bracelet designed by his father that can pull physical matter out of thin air (long science explanation later on how it is actually visualization from a computer based dimension) which is where all his equipment and battle gear is pulled from.

After the fall of the Crest Corp, Ran goes into hiding into the creation of the New Dragon Empire and becomes a member of the Dragon Elder Council as an expert on human technologies and investigations.
