IT'S HERE! The first official look at the beginnings of AETHER D'ANIMAUX!
With MANY GLORIOUS THANKS to the volunteers and artists who helped add their name and beautiful artwork to the cause, AETHER finally has a form that people can fathom and understand.
Missed the window? Not to worry! We're only 1/5th of the way there! This MOCK-UP (REV01), is only the first stage. The next stage will be adding all of the appropriate credit information and writing the intros.
Jury selection will begin again soon, which will lock-in the jurors who will be presiding over the OFFICIAL COMPETITION for entry into the book. The competition will officially begin soon. Keep an eye open for more info here!

The ultimate intent of the book will be a "Best of Furry Art" book that will showcase work in all facets of furridom that we feel best represent us for the year of its publication.
Since the word "best" is so subjective, especially with artwork, that it would be highly unfair if I alone decided who was "best", given my own biases and expectations.
Thus, we need to "employ" a volunteer panel of peers who will jury over the work and vote yay or nay on every submitted piece. There will be 13 jury members, thus a piece will need 7 votes to be included into the final publication.

I will very much need people to help promote the sales of the book. But right now, we're still concentrating on the printing aspect. Everything will come in time!

Yes, that would be best! Seeing as how I have been unable to fully-explore your galleries.
IF YOU HAVE THE OPTION,... I HIGHLY recommend taking "staged" photos that show you in the suit posed creatively in a staged setting. Really think about your suit as your character, and really create a photograph that reflects your character and the quality/design of your suit!
This is the kind of photo that will be published in the book. As cool as a fursuit design may be, a boring shot is dull to look at. Make sense? This is an art book! Think creatively!

Yes! At present, AETHER is planned to be a annual. The competition will be held around the same time every year, and it will be published around the same time, too.

Many artists have commented that they feel they would be excluded if they tried to participate in the book. It is important to understand that this competition will be judged by 13 of your peers. That means 13 different opinions, and 13 chances at a shot. It only takes 7 people to say "yes". Every year, the Jury will change, and a whole different skill-set will be in place to review works.
We don't want anyone to think that their work is "bad" or "unacceptable". The simple truth is, you work, if passed-over, means it did not connect with this particular panel of Jurors. The words "The Best of..." are VERY subjective, and we realize that. Which is why we have 13 people and not 1 or 2. This gives us the best variety and the best diversity of opinion.
But always remember: Art is a learned skill fueled by motivation. If you want to improve, you will if you work at it. No one is born great.
My only advice, is remember to have confidence in yourself AND your art, and there will always be the next opportunity.
