Prior to writing Taniwha I wrote a story called The Cold Wind, which was the first story I ever wrote set in the 'Vanguard universe'. It features different characters, both human & Vanguard, and aspects of the storyline are referenced occasionally in Taniwha. I took it offline some time ago because I am attempting to get it published, my agent in the US is working hard on my behalf, but I'm not holding out much hope.

*shrug*

If it never gets published, I'll upload it here as well, for anyone interested in reading it.

But anyway, enough of my Vanguard boys for a while - here are two of the human characters from The Cold Wind: Andrej (Eastern European descent, on the left) and Tainui (NZ Maori, on the right).

Drawn by  zanvarin, was very happy with this one - the proper tribal tattoo's on Tainui look bloody good and are actually rather accurate to traditional Maori designs; he obviously did a bit of research into this one.
