Prior to writing Taniwha I wrote a story called The Cold Wind, which was the first story I ever wrote set in the 'Vanguard universe'. It features different characters, both human & Vanguard, and aspects of the storyline are referenced occasionally in Taniwha. I took it offline some time ago because I am attempting to get it published, my agent in the US is working hard on my behalf, but I'm not holding out much hope.

If it never gets published, I'll upload it here as well, for anyone interested in reading it.
But anyway, enough of my Vanguard boys for a while - here are two of the human characters from The Cold Wind: Andrej (Eastern European descent, on the left) and Tainui (NZ Maori, on the right).

zanvarin, was very happy with this one - the proper tribal tattoo's on Tainui look bloody good and are actually rather accurate to traditional Maori designs; he obviously did a bit of research into this one.
Thank you, Zanvarin, much appreciated, Sir!

Tattos are sexy, an assessment I feel is in no small way ironical, considering that I could never get one myself. Not unless I could somehow be assured that it would indeed be perceived as "cool" and even sexy, and NOT as some kind of social stigma, like my worst fears entail around the prospect.
The ripped jeans and the shirtlessness don't hurt matters none, either. Glad to see that space hasn't made people too concerned about airtight clothing to show a little skin. ;)

A lot of people tend to rush their decisions when deciding on a tattoo, and end up with something that just makes them look really idiotic when they're older. Can you imagine what those guys/gals with those trendy type faux-tribal tattoos will look like when they're 60 and all saggy or fat? Sad wankers, that's what they'll look like.
Having said that, good tattoos on a guy can be very hot. I'd love to get some myself, but I'm a complete pussy when it comes to pain so I'll stay a chicken
Heh, well these two do get a bit of vacuum time sans space-suits in their story, but they get over it and recover. And shirtless hot guys are ALWAYS appropriate!

More Maori boys, eh? Well, over time when I find some good artists willing to draw humans I'll definitely hit them up for commissioned pics of all my lads from the two stories. For that matter, in the one I'm co-writing with a friend at the moment ('Harbinger'), the main protagonist is a Maori lad as well.
I Maori boys!
