As a diplomat, M'Tara has to occasionally do and taste some crazy stuff and, among this, she had to drink some Romulan ale during a diplomatic encounter with the Romulan Republic.
Even if she tried and make up for her kind having destroyed their previous homeworld of Romulus with the engineered Hobus supernova (and sent Ambassador Spock into a black hole right into another reality where the Enterprise is destroyed in every movie), the Romulans still probably were a bit bitter and made her drink their infamous alcohol.
"Romulan ale should be illegal!" M'Tara exlaimed, plagued by an atrocious headache after waking up.
"It is. Told you, girls, those sentients weren't stupid. But nooo, nobody listens to L'Miren, especially not you, T'Ket." L'Miren replied, a smirk on her face as she was sipping her coffee, very fine, having politely refused the Romulan beverage.
"Just shut up and help me fill this room with the blood of those furry pests!" the angry sister, T'Ket, shouted, surrounded by many, many cooing tribbles she took with her while drunk out of her mind.
And the morale to this story? Even if you're a physical goddess, DO NOT try and drink Romulan ale if you're not Romulan.
While the Iconians were first mentioned in Star Trek TNG, DS9 and Voyager, they are currently only represented in Star Trek Online, as the ultimate villains, responsible for many many terrible things that have happened in this MMO and in Star Trek in general, including episodes of TNG (two episodes, even) and ENT. They also troll Borg, manipulated Species 8472 and nearly destroyed the Krenim to show who's the boss.
And yes, that's not a joke, according to STO, they're also responsible for the creation of the JJ Star Trekverse, more precisely responsible for the supernova that destroyed Romulus and indirectly caused Spock and Nero to be sent into another timeline.
