This statue stands in the Danish Capitol Copenhagen. The statue is a memorial to the war from 1848 - 1850, which is also known as the three year war and the war in 1864.
The first war was a war between Denmark and Preussia and Slesvig - Holstein (which back then was a part of Denmark). The wars final result ended with a Danish Victory supported by England, France and Russia.
The war of 1864 is the most defining war in Danish history so far. It was the war that shaped much of how Denmark is today and how we see ourself as a people and nation. The war ended with a defeat to Denmark and a Victory to Preussia. Result: Slesvig - Holstein joins Preussia.
