Revisiting an old favorite character of mine, sadly I've not been able to find the original otherwise I would do a side by side comparison. Gertie is an ogre shaman whose belief in the equality of all life has lead her down a wise and kind-hearted path compared to her other ogre brethren. She took in two elven babes whom she found orphaned in the woods, their parents killed by bandits or some such, whomever they were, they had no heart for killing babies. She took it upon herself to raise them as she hadn't the heart to let them parish. While wise Gertie is not too much more intelligent than the common ogre, she taught them her language and then what she knew of the language of man, though they picked up more of it from the few towns that allowed them passage. Gertie and her children are neither looked upon with favor from the races considered civil nor by other ogres. As such they spend most of their time travelling, not that they mind, Gertie's favorite place is to be among the trees of a forest or hiking a vast mountain. While her children can be troublesome they do not have bad hearts and the three of them are nearly inseparable. While Gertie is not violent by nature, like many mothers, she is fiercely protective of her children and has to be more so due to the prejudice against her kind.
