I've had this sitting on my computer for two weeks with the head having no highlights to it, though I may finish this up sometime. I decided to give a latex suit a shot, and I'm happy with it overall.
His eyes are covered completely and his mouth is sealed shut by the latex, allowing others to use him if they please.
I studied
danielkay's latex works to get the lighting effect I was looking for.
Edit: After noticing some funky jpg compression artifacts, I increased the quality and made it a bit bigger

I'd noticed it on "Furniture" and "Snow Suit" ^^ I'm glad that I was able to help, and I'm thinking about putting up a mini-tutorial for anyone to look at and consider. :)
A suggestion that I have, would be to give the paths some curves rather than being sets of straight lines. which I noticed most on the tail of "Snow Suit"

It's just how I colour. I use the point by point selection tool to do flood fills over areas, apply a blur, then carve our the section I want with the point selection tool again.
On pictures that aren't quickies I tend to take a bit more time with it and as such don't tend to be as noticeable in the end ^^
