This is a pistol and display case I built back in 1988 and gave to my step father. I got it back when he passed away in October. The pistol is a CVA reproduction kit of a 1851 Colt Navy muzzle loading pistol. I polished up the powder flask and then fitted up the display case from some Styrofoam and an old silverware case. I think it turned out pretty well. It has had exactly 50 shots fired through it once I finished it. I built this up when I was in the Navy and did it completely in my barracks room and there is no telling how much trouble I'd have gotten into if I'd been caught with it.

I recommend building it. I have made or worked on probably 6 or 7 kit pistols and there is nothing like the feeling of building something like this and seeing it actually work. There is a lot of satisfaction in it plus it creates an heirloom that can be passed from generation to generation.
Thank you and yes, I have written a few things but frankly it just isn't up to my usual standards or they aren't ready for distribution. I have been reading your work and I am about 3/4 of the way through everything up to October and I must say... you are now one of my favorite writers. Congratulations, you are in good company. :P
