JP’s Spontaneous Dinner:
So the other night I happened to be home alone. I was hungry. I wanted something more than a sandwich or warmed up Cup-o-Noodle… so I decided to cook. I rounded up some things I had in the fridge and cupboard, and this is what I ended up with.
Seasoned Chicken: Using 6 lb’s (12 pieces) of raw thawed chicken tenderloins, place all pieces onto a skillet with ½ cup of vegetable oil and cook on medium heat. Sprinkle approximately 2 tablespoons of Poultry/ Fish seasoning. Flip each piece occasionally. You will know it is done when the meat starts to brown a little.
Mashed Potatoes: Wash and place (clean) 7 potatoes into a 5 Quart pot. Fill pot ¾’s the way to the top. Boil until potatoes are soft (stick a knife through one… if it goes through easy, it is done). Drain out water, pour 2 cups of milk, 1 stick of salted butter, and sprinkle 2 spoons of Garlic Salt. Mash together until the potatoes are smooth.
Basil Corn: Using 2 cans of Yellow Sweet corn, remove corn from can (drain water from corn), and place onto skillet with ½ a stick of butter (cut butter into 5 pieces, and place around different areas on top of the corn)… cook until butter is melted, then stir butter into the corn. Sprinkle 2 spoons of basil into the corn.
Garlic Asparagus: Using 1 bunch of Asparagus, remove rubber band (or whatever is holding them together), place into skillet, and fill that skillet with water nearly to the top… boil until asparagus is soft. I prefer to test by eating one… if it is not hard to chew, and not stringy, it is ready for the next step. Drain remaining water out, and place back on stove. Place ½ cube of butter into asparagus (cut butter into 5 pieces, and place around different areas on top of the asparagus). Sprinkle ½ tablespoon of garlic onto the asparagus… cook until butter is completely melted.
Lazy Caesar Salad: Using 6 leaves of Romaine Lettuce, chop the leaves into small pieces, and place into a large mixing bowl. Chop one Romaine tomato into small cube pieces and place into same bowl. Use half a red bell pepper, and chop into small cubes and placed into same mixing bowl. Use ¼ a head of broccoli, and cut into small pieces and place into same mixing bowl. Serve from that bowl, and use Paul Newman Caesar Salad dressing conservatively on your salad.
Tea: The tea is rather random. But I just heated some hot water on the stove, and used a tea blend of Wild Orange Blossum and Youthberry from Teavana. Oh, and don’t forget honey. .
The total amount of ingredients serves 4-5 hungry beasts (people) .
Please Note: Asparagus is usually expensive, like $5.00 USD for a bunch. I go to the local 99 Cent store where naturally they have it for…well, 99 cents for the same sized bunch.
