One of the things I enjoy doing is painting ceramics. My favourite studio in Orlando was 'All Fired Up'. It's actually been quite helpful and therapeutic. The first thing I did when I was given two weeks to leave the US was go there and paint a plate. Primarily to force myself to not panic.
Anyhow, I haven't painted as many things since I've moved. A giant mug, after I can back from Cuba. I wanted one for this year, and was short of a subject. Since I was doing a bunch of Hive Nurses, it was pretty easy to put down a pose of Eight. This took about 12 hours, at least. It was experimental in a lot of ways. It's necessary to put three layers down with ceramic paint, and in-person up close, I either forgot a layer on her body or it needed four. I also haven't tried mixing the ceramic paints before, and the studio was iffy about whether it would work either. So it was several combinations of Silver (Grey) and black, and attempting to duplicate the mix over several days.
As for Eight's colours, she accidentally got Derpy's. I wanted to do something with yellow and orange, because... they are the colours I've had the most success with. I like the blue-purple spectrum, but the best things I've coloured all seem to be the yellow-orange-red spectrum. The grey of her body is the base silver, and I was considering all white. Since making changeling holes was a little too much effort, I settled on some white dots. In part, because Ladybug Dashling also had spots on her hooves instead of holes.
Anyhow, I use these for eating. They somewhat hold up.
