Alright, peeps, the time has finally come: the unveiling of the newly re-designed Cade!
So, about 6 months ago was when I first designed my fursona, and over time I've just become less and less happy with how I designed him. Some of the markings seemed overdesigned and weren't blending well.
Hence, my quest for a new ref! I decided to change things up a bit and go with a pure digital piece, and a while after
first gave me his business card, I finally decided that it was him I would choose to execute my vision.
It ended up being a perfect choice. I love Ray's style; he made the perfect cocky, goofy look for the coywolf, and even went above and beyond; at the eleventh hour, when I was uncertain about keeping or discarding certain details, he offered me a whole slew of design choices that allowed me to sort out my thoughts and move forward with the changes I wanted to make.
All in all, I couldn't be happier with this, and am so glad to finally have Cade cleaned up a bit and ready for more art and for my forthcoming fursuit. Thanks again a million times over, Ray, I so appreciate it!
UPDATE (2/2/16): So, after consulting with a suitmaker and going over the design again, I decided to have Ray tweak it just a liiiiiiitle more. The positioning of the neck fur was looking to be a bit of an issue, so I decided to lower the grey neck fur just a bit more and change around the lines. Yet again, Ray came through for me and went above and beyond. Thanks a bunch again buddy!

Regarding the changes I made to THIS ref sheet, no one said they can't work with it, all they said was that the way the neck fur was positioned before might look a bit awkward when translated into a full suit. It was just a bit of friendly advice. She said there were ways she could work with the existing design even, but after thinking about it I simply decided that I didn't like what I'd asked for in the first rendering and made some small tweaks to make it look better.
As for the bigger changes I made from the first ref to the second, that was all me; I decided of my own accord that the design looked too detailed and complicated.
