So, I'm pretty bummed. I was driving home from the store, and saw this poor kitten on the side of the road. I turned around in a school parking lot, parked at a gas station, and ran across the road and picked it up. When I got it home, I realized the skin on it's bottom jaw is peeled back from the muscle, and it's right leg seems to be broken.
I'm not sure what else is wrong with it.
But, I called the humane society in town and was rudely informed I needed to take it to the vet, because they are not a vet. Which was no surprise. That place has never been helpful in the past.
SO THEN, I called the humane society in the next town over. They told me they could take the kitten in the morning. I'm going to wake up early and get it down there.
I hope it's able to make it through the night, and recover after a good vet visit, and find a really loving, perfect home. This kitten is a doll and a trooper.

I tried that as well, and none of the local vets would help.
As far as the humane society being right or wrong, they still don't have to be as rude and hateful as they always are. I know they're funded well enough, and they've taken on sick/hurt animals before.
It's neither here nor there, however. I've found a place that is going to help it, and I'm happy about that.

I don't expect vets to take on free work like this anyway. I understand why they don't, but human societies are there for a reason, and they get funding for a reason.
I understand if they don't have room, or are low on finances to where they cannot take on a wounded or ill animal, but that's all they have to say too. They don't have to be rude.
Fortunately the humane society in the town over is awesome, and ready to do it!

God damn. This breaks my heart. I've been in your shoes many times and it just never gets easier. And the frustration of trying to find people to help is just disheartening. I'm sending the little baby some happy thoughts and healing vibes. I really hope they patch em up quick and getting em feeling right.
I'm glad someone understands the struggle man. It's hard having a heart for animals, and not the finances. And like you said, finding people who can help is not always easy. In fact, from experience, it's never been easy.
But thank you for the good vibes, and happy thoughts. I know it appreciates it, and I do too! (I don't know it's gender lol. Im afraid to move it too much in an attempt to find out!)
I'll ask the humane society if I can call up periodically and find out what happens to it, though, and let y'all know!

hng poor baby <:c youre a good person for stopping to get him. i feel like its a dog world. if there was an injured dog on the road, anyone would stop for it but not a lot of people stop for cats.
id make sure the humane society youre taking him to is a no kill shealter because if not, unfortnately they might just let him go if surgery will end up costing too much
