Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer is one of our favorite Christmas Stories, indeed, for myself, it was my favorite non-denominational story of the season. It is also one of my earliest memories of this lifelong love of all things furry, as I first heard it about 1962, as a pup of about 6.
So for those of you who can enjoy a short read, I have decided to give you a small Christmas gift by way of a bit of background about Rudolph. He is something of a late-comer to the holiday season, born some 76 years ago, 1939 to be accurate. It sets the record straight by stating that the story was not penned to entertain a man's dying daughter, but by a writer working for a department store. This writing is actually paraphrased from snopes.com, Although I did add and edit a few things.
So here ya go, fellow coyotes, foxes, and furs. Enjoy it - Merry Christmas, and May God Bless you one and all!

Maybe not... remember in 1964 there were not many families that had color TV's yet. I first saw it in 64, at my grandpap's house- they had a huge RCA color set. Our family was still watching an old Muntz B&W TV. For that matter, there was still a sizable percent of American households who had no TV's at all, particularly on Rural ares.
Anyways, Merry Christmas MB!

That's cool, I never knew that, my dad used to work for Montgomery Ward's. I think I remember seeing Rudolph for the first time back in 68 or so and we had a HUGE 19" Zenith color TV, Christmas was something special back then, but now it's just too commercialized. Thanks for sharing that with us Zip. SB.
