my heart wouldn't accept it any other way. Besides.. death is only a doorway.. and while it can linger, and sometimes be unpleasant.. its only just a step into something else. Better to be with someone in that situation then go through it alone and find that the one you left behind is waiting for you... and upset that you didn't stay with him/her.

I'd rather stay with them and fight.. and if I loose, then I dont have any regrets from not trying.

If you ARE willing to sacrifice someone to save your own ass, then you never really loved them in the first place, and don't know the first thing about love, period.

With that said... guilt-tripping someone to give them the motivation to keep going. Priceless.

Sometimes guilt can be a great motivator. Sometimes you have to let people go.

Only you can make that decision, but so far, survival has a much stronger pull on me than does compassion.

And this comes from a guy who did search and rescue and such.
We were taught that a panic-striken person can kill the rescuer as well as themselves, but the rescuer must be willing to abandon the victim when they get to that point.

Believe me.... you really, really don't.

From myself that is trained in extream climate survival I don't see the reason to leave where they was at in the first place because if you are lost in the wilderness and especially in snow conditions with two people the better thing is to construct a shelter and wait for help and if you have two bodies to produce heat if you cannot start a fire.... The only way you would need to travel is if nobody knows you are missing or some other emergency arises that you have no other choice.....
