Well, I got the kitten to the humane society a little after it opened. They weren't as friendly as I had hoped they would be, but she is going to get looked at, and supposedly someone will call me with the news. I can't call them, as they're phones are off today.
So, hopefully good news is around the corner. However, the woman at the desk speculated she'd be euthanized, but wouldn't know for sure until the vet technician looks at her, obviously.
Fingers crossed man. ):

Buh, wish peeps at shelters and places like that weren't so, I don't know, jaded and crummy so often? I suppose I can understand the difficulties working at places like that, they certainly see some messed up animals that are more often then not the result of human negligence. But I really wish that wouldn't keep them from showing compassion for people who are really just looking to help.
Hoping for the best for the little fuzzbutt.

Yeah, I was discussing it with my mom on the way home. I know the workers see hurt animals all the time, and maybe they intentionally distance themselves. Maybe they're just numb, but compassion would have been nice. I would have felt better about leaving her, had they seemed kinder.
But, I'm hoping the best for her too. She would make someone a fantastic fur baby.

I hope not too. I'd foster her, but our neighbors are really nosy, and would report me in a heart beat for having another animal. The landlord was clear we're not even allowed to babysit an animal. It's kinda nuts. But I do know a couple people who might be willing too, if that were something the shelter needed.
that's what sucks about not being able to take responsibility for injured animals, man. the only way you can ensure they won't be euthanized is if you foot the medical bills... I had a similar situation earlier this year with a little black kitten we found in a parking lot. :^( as much as its worrisome to potentially leave a good animal to its fate, that's just too much financial strain to put on yourself, man. I'm sure the little guy knows you did everything you could.
It is a huge financial strain, and it's worse because we live in the south I think. No one seems to care about animals in the same way that larger urban areas do. It's just a cat, it's just a dog, yada yada.
If I could have footed the bill for her I would have. Hopefully they realize what a sweety she is, and she is worth the expense of fixing up. She would make an AWESOME companion, and I know she is going to be one of those animals with a lot of gratitude. I could see it in her demeanor and face that she was relieved to have someone with her while she was suffering. She didn't want to be alone.
I really hope she gets another chance, but I guess we'll see.

Good to hear an update! Keep checking in if you can, I've worked in shelters and they more often than not sadly do euthanize wounded animals that people bring in. But if she's not mortally wounded they SHOULD hold her for a 24-48 hour period before that.
Best of luck and thanks for helping this lil' kitten!
