Spike's Inner Conflicts. (Episode 1)
An art-trade story I did with
Dinodraketakethecake, which tells the entire first episode of "My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic" from the perspective of Spike. (And what his inner thoughts is.)
This is without a doubt the biggest art-trade story I have ever done (As I ended up with a total of 26 pages in my word document!), and hopefully you will all get to see many more (But hopefully not so long. :-P ) episodes of the show getting done in this way.
The link to the awesome icon image to this was also drawn by my art-trade friend, and it can be found here.

And I hope that making this trade will make many more of you people on FA to go over to his channel and give him a watch or a comment.
He is a really, REALLY talented guy, and it is insane that only 6 people are watching him so far!

Ever since getting hatched and raised by Twilight Sparkle, Spike the Dragon has been trying his best to talk, act, and think just like all the ponies around him in order to better fit in.
But since Spike wasn't a pony his own thoughts wasn't the only things in there.
Inside his head he had two very different sides of himself sitting next to a table.
On one side was a "Pony" version of Spike, that wanted nothing more then to have him completely adapt into becoming one of them, and forget about what kind of species he was. He might be a dragon, but all he has ever known is pony culture and lifestyle, so he should just try and aspect that this was going to be his life.
And on the other side there was a "Adult Dragon" version of Spike ,that was the absolute opposite. This version only cared about one thing, and that was for Spike to never forget that he was BORN a dragon, and therefore should LIVE his life like a dragon too! To rebel against the ponies for telling him how to do things, and that he is his own boss!
With two so different ways telling him subconsciously what his every move in life should be, it wasn't so surprising that Spike at times seemed a little confused and lost.
Today Spike had really planned out things nicely for him and Twilight.
One of Twilight's Canterlot friends Moondance, was planning to have a party, and the two of them was invited!
He had earlier this day bought and wrapped up a nice gift for Twilight to give her unicorn friend once she come back from her walk around the park. (With her books.)
He could hear the sound of hooves galloping up the stairs to the tower where they lived, so he walked up towards the door to greet her and give her the gift and...
SLAM!
With a hard thrust Spike was sent flying backwards, and landing hard on his back!
Twilight was in such a rush that she didn't even noticed how she knocked her friend over, and was only noticing once he came to join her that he had something around her tail.
"My tail? Well what could that be...!" Spike said as he looked back and saw that it was the gift package, now crushed and penetrated by the sharp end of his tail!
"Well, it was a gift for Moondancer, but..." Spike said as he got the smashed gift of his tail, only for the content of it to spill out onto the floor! (It was a teddy bear, that now had a big nasty hole in it's heart!)
"Spike! You know don't have time for this sort of things!" Twilight said as she was starting to sort a bunch of books out of the shelves, searching furiously for something.
"See! Isn't this exactly what I told would happen when he decided to walk up close to the door?!" A very loud and grumpy voice said, which belonged to a very irritated and full grown dragon version of Spike.
"Maybe she just so caught up in something very important that she didn't see Spike getting knocked over?" A second and much more kinder sounding voice said, that in return belonged to a much smaller (Compared to the huge dragon version.) version of Spike that was a pony.
"Sure. Something so "important" that she couldn't even stop to help Spike up from the ground." The big dragon said, and rested his arms over each other, waiting to see what the small pony would give as a response.
"...Maybe she just REALLY need a helping hoof, and when Spike show's his loyalty to help her, she will realise her mistake." The small pony Spike said, to which the adult dragon just raised one eyebrow and said "Wanna bet 10 bits on that?"
"Oh, it's on!" The pony version said, and they both looked over to see how things would play out.
In the pony world Spike saw how Twilight was searching high and low over a certain book, and remembering that she had been studying a lot about "The Tale of The Two Princesses" these last few days he know where the second book about that tale was laying around.
Just over at the second book shelf...on the 7th floor!
"Sigh" "I better get a ladder." Spike said, and did just that.
After climbing up several stories up the enormous bookshelf Spike grabbed the book and shouted "It's over here!" while waving the thing.
Twilight used her magic on the book, and unfortunately Spike hadn't been quick enough to let go of it so he got dragged along with the book!
With a loud SMACK he landed face first into the floor (with the book still in his hand.), and Twilight just jerked it out of his hand and walked away.
Inside of Spike's head the big dragon version of him smirked and said "Told you so." as the pony version of Spike had to give him those 10 bits like they had bet on.
As Spike took on the job to pick up all the books that Twilight had tossed around in her search for the that special one, she seemed to be really deep into what she was reading.
He wasn't paying much attention on everything she was rambling to herself, as he was to busy staggering books and getting up on that ladder again to put them back up.
And as it was with Spike's luck just when he was on the very top and on his way to place the first book in (And the ladder happen to decided to be very unsteady at that moment.) Twilight gasped and shouted "Spike! Do you know what this means?!", causing the poor baby dragon to loose his balance yet again and fall!
This time his fall was saved by Twilight (As he landed on her strong back.), and the first thing she did was handing over some things he was familiar with. The Scroll and the Feather Pen.
It had become one of the most common things for him to do for Twilight. Since she was often so stressed in doing all kinds of things at the same time Spike had willingly taken on the role to help taking notes on all the things she needed to remember.
But he would also be the only writing personal letters for Twilight to later send to the great Princess Celestia, which was what this now was.
From the second the purple unicorn open her mouth Spike was on his way to write down every sound she made, cause he knew that when Twilight Sparkle started talking there was nothing stopping her!
Making letters for Twilight wasn't the easiest thing to do all the times, cause she had this habit of liking to use hard and complicated words to describe how she was feeling. (Heck, just ask Spike how many times he had tried spelling the word "Precipice " correctly.)
But he knew that the princess was never that keen in fancy words, so he just made the message of Twilight pretty simple. (But still keeping the important reason for it being made still there.)
He heard words like "Nightmare Moon", "Eternal Night", and even "Terrible Prophecy", but without listening to the full sentence he couldn't piece together what it was all about.
Once finished he was just about to send the message away, when he realised something important on his own.
"Twilight!" He shouted. "Tomorrow it is time for the Summer Sun Celebration, don't you think that this might not be the best time to bother the princess?" He asked, and could tell by Twilight serious looks that this message was going to get sent, no matter what!
Sighing again Spike let out a green flame, that had the magical powers to teleport the rolled up scroll all the way over to the throne room of Princess Celestia. (That was a magical spell that Twilight personally had been teaching Spike.)
"Isn't it nice that THAT'S is what type of magic spell she teaches us?! A spell that makes us work just like if we where some type of quicker way to send a message! Is that all she thinks that Spike is worth to her?!" The Adult Dragon Spike said as he was pretty much ranting and roaring at the same time.
"We shouldn't forget that the Spike we know isn't a full grown and full learnt dragon like you, but still just a baby dragon. A pure novice in the environment of magic." The smaller pony version of Spike said to calm down his more hot headed college.
"Just give him some time to start practicing some simple spells and you will see that he can be a great asset to Twilight. And one more thing..."
BURP!
Suddenly Pony Spike's monologue was being cut short but what was Spike's way to receive messages. He sends them away with his green flames...and gets the answers back with a burp.
"Twilight! Your letter just came back!" The little dragon shouted as he rushed over to give it to the purple unicorn.
Inside of Spike's head the adult dragon looked very pleased over seeing the pony version's argument fall flat after that burp.
"You where saying?" He asked, to which the pony just looked away and mumbled "Nothing."
After receiving the message Spike also had it as his job to read what said message was saying.
"Seriously?! He is forced to do that to?! Isn't it ANYTHING that that spoiled unicorn will force him to do for her?" Adult Dragon Spike said, as he was working up a real sauna experience for him and the pony spike, thanks to all the smoke coming out of his mouth and nostrils that always happen when he got really, really upsets.
"Can you take it down just a little bit? I'm trying to listen to what the message says." The unicorn version of Spike said just as regular Spike was finishing it off.
"See! Now you made me miss what it was saying!" Unicorn Spike said as he tried his hardest to get rid of all the smoke that his partner had created.
"Big deal. It was probably nothing that will change how things around here proceeds." The big dragon said very overconfidently.
And in the next moment the two consciousness of Spike saw that both he and Twilight Sparkle was now sitting in a golden chariot, that was being pulled by two royal Pegasus guards, with their bags packed, and towards who knows where.
"Nothing that will change how things around here proceeds, huh?" The unicorn spike said to his dragon counterpart, as both of them was now as clueless on what was going on.
"I have said that I was wrong, what more do I need to do?" The adult dragon asked, starting to get very annoyed by how many times the smaller version of spike was rubbing it in.
"Maybe tell us what we missed so that we would be able to have some idea to what is going on!" The unicorn Spike said, and just as he had said that they could both hear how the real Spike was starting to read the messages again.
"He's reading it! Don't make any sounds this time!" The pony Spike said told the adult dragon one, who was about to say something in response, but those really angry eyes on the pony Spike made him shut up this time.
As they listen they heard how Spike told Twilight how after receiving the message the ruler of the kingdom (Princess Celestia) was sending them both to prepare the small city of "Ponyville" for when the Princess will do the annual "Summer Sun Celebration" there. (And how she also left an extra request about Twilight trying to let go of all her reading, and try to make some friends instead.)
"AHAHAHA!!!! Really? Like that bookworm of a pony ever would be able to do that! She has barley stepped her hoof outside of her tower for pony sake!" The big dragon version of Spike said, and started rolling around on the floor laughing!
"I for one think that anything is possible, and I will do whatever I can fully support her." The smaller pony version of Spike said with great passion, and almost as to pick his side the real Spike could be hear saying "I believe in you Twilight."
"Seems like he agrees with me." Pony Spike said with a little hint of cockiness in his voice, to which the big dragon version just rolled his eyes.
As they finally landed in Ponyville Spike still wasn't ready to give up his attempts to try and help Twilight get some new friends. (It was what the princess of the kingdom asked for after all!)
He started looking after any pony that seemed to be "fun" to have as a friend, and immediately he saw what looked like a "Happy & Go Lucky" pink pony that was heading their way!
He quickly dragged Twilight over to this pony that neither of them had ever met before, and he nicely asked Twilight to "Give it a chance, and try talking to her."
Twilight felt a little nervous talking to stranger like this, but just to prove to Spike that she wasn't a coward she said a careful "Hello." to the other pony...who in return jumped up in the air, gasped loudly, and then ran off as fast as she could!
All Twilight said in return to this weird reaction from the strange pony was "Well, that was interesting." before moving on with her goal to prepare everything for the arrival of the Princess. (All to the disappointment of Spike, who just had to try again later.)
Inside of Spike's head the two versions of him tried their hardest to figure out who (or what) that pink pony was.
"She can't be a real pony! I mean, did you see how she just made herself levitate from the ground for a second?!" The big dragon version of Spike asked, (confused beyond believe) and his smaller buddy wasn't doing much better.
"This doesn't make any sense! An earth pony shouldn't no, COULDN'T be able to do so!" The unicorn version of Spike said, starting to make calculations and equations in hope to find an answer to this.
"Seriously? You are sometimes even worse then that nerdy unicorn he is hanging with." The adult dragon said, mostly as a way to make to get under his friend's skin. (And it worked.)
"She happens to be a very smart and analytical pony, and I am just trying to be as interested in finding a solution to this strange phenomena." The unicorn version of Spike said.
"Here's an answer. "It's just magic." Just like the magic you can make with your horn." The full grown version of Spike said.
The Pony version wanted to reply just how "easy" of an answer that was, but surprisingly it did sound like something that could make sense in some way!
So all that he could counter that argument with was to glace at his own magic horn and say, "Touché my friend. Touché."
The first thing to get inspect for the preparations for the Summer Sun Celebration was the huge banquet that was going to be served, and talk a little with the pony that was responsible for it all.
Twilight and Spike gasped a little once they reached the place where things was happening.
They had been told that it would be an "Apple" theme on the food, and that the address would lead them to an apple farm called "Sweet Apple Acers", but none of them could have guessed just how huge it was!
Across the hills all around the farmhouses there was growing over 100s and 100s of acres of Apple trees! All looking as juicy and fresh as they could be, showing that they had been taken care of somepony that really knew just how to treat apples right.
And right on que they saw this pony in question charging in at full speed and with good old "Yehaa!" gave a couple of trees a really hard bucking with her hind legs, ending up making a good amount of apples drop down into some buckets she had put up before hand. (And not having a single Apple end up outside of them!) After finishing up such an amazing task the earth pony put one of her front legs across the other, and looked pretty proud of herself.
Twilight sighed once again over the fact that she would have to try and be "interactive" with another pony for moment, but she knew that she was doing this for the Princess so she better tried putting on her best "Happy" face when talking with her.
"Good Afternoon. My name is Twilight Sparkle..." Was all Twilight could say before the strong earth pony grabbed a hold on her front hoof and started shaking it furiously as she was introducing herself to her!
She told Twilight that her name was "Applejack" and how "We at Sweet Apple Acres always loves to make knew friends.", while still swaying their hoofs at possibly 20 times per second!
"Friends?!" Twilight said, sounding both surprised and a little scared over hearing that words again. (But Spike was only happy as this pony basically was inviting her into her own friend circles, and the hard hoof shaking only made it harder for Twilight to back away from it.)
Eventually Applejack let go of Twilight's hoof, but the purple unicorn was a bit slow to adapt to knew changes so she was still shaking on her own for about 5 more seconds! (And only eventually stopped thanks to Spike grabbing her hoof, making Twilight glare at him a little bit as the baby dragon barley could hold his own laughter in.)
Once getting her hoof still Twilight asked Applejack about how the preparations of the food was going, and after the orange country pony told her how everything was going smoothly she asked Twilight if she would like to try a sample of it.
Given that Twilight was feeling a little hungry since arriving to this place she said "Sure, as long as it doesn't take to long...", and before she had even a chance to finish her sentence Applejack rang a bell and shouted "Soup's on, everypony!"
In the very next second both Twilight and Spike found themselves getting carried away by a stampede of ponies that turned out to all be related to the Apple family!
When they both felt that they weren't moving anymore they found themselves sitting by a table now, and Applejack showed up next to them to start showing of some of the goodies that they had to offer.
But they weren't the only ones confused on what was going on, as even the two other versions of Spike was also trying to get what was going to happen next.
"Yeish lady! I know you want to share some of your goodies with us, but did you really need to drag your entire family with you?!" The adult dragon Spike said, alongside Twilight not liking all of these strange faces being so close to them.
"Try to be a little bit positive wont you? It's just them trying to introduce themselves to us. It's not like they are going to ask us to test eating everything they are making." The smaller unicorn version of Spike said with lots of confidence, and almost immediately afterwards some pony dropped a sample on the dinner table Spike and Twilight was sitting at.
"This here is Apple fritter." Applejack's voice could be heard saying.
Knowing what was coming next the unicorn Spike turned over to his side to see the full grown dragon Spike, who was just staring at him with a typical "Are you kidding me?" face.
"I know! I know! I should have kept my big mouth shut!" Unicorn Spike said.
After getting the first sample from Apple Fritter, Twilight thought that this small taste testing was going to be an easy thing to do. But then suddenly another pony dropped a sample. And then another one! And then yet another one!
Pretty soon pony after pony with an apple cutie mark was dropping off sample of apple dishes (That strangely seemed to match exactly the names of said pony.) onto the table for their guests. (That was slowly starting to get build up into a tower of treats.)
Twilight felt a bit unsure over the fact that she was going to be forced to eat ALL of the things that was being placed onto the table, but Spike on the other hand couldn't wait to have some.
He was about to grab a caramelised apple for himself when Twilight stopped him.
"No Spike! The responsibility to make sure that the apple dishes are in perfect order is mine, and I need to be the one tasting every...single...one...(Oh boy)" Twilight said as she thought about just what a painful predicament she was in, based entirely on her own strict ways of always following the rules as literally as possible.
"Fine. Suit yourself then." Spike said as he decided to just sit back, and watch Twilight force herself through this until she says that she is wrong and will need his help.
But to Spike's surprise Twilight never stopped. Dish after dish she tasted, swallowed, and then finally noted before going to the next. (It was so the dragon himself was starting to end up losing the will of wanting to do this "As Celestia said it", as he also REALLY wanted to try out one of those apple cakes.
Luckily for him he could see Twilight Sparkle looking more and more "gone" as all the food eating was almost starting to put her to sleep. Spike took that as any of a good moment to sneak and grab a slice of an apple-pie to himself. (Which tasted really great.)
For Twilight a slice of everything started to feel more and more like eating a whole portion of every food item! She could feel her belly starting to bloat out, and when she was talking about wanting to quit eating Applejack used a really dirty trick on her. She used the "Guilt" trick, in which she told Twilight that she still hadn't tasted the food made by her most closest family relative. (Her little sister Applebloom, her big brother Big Macintosh, and her grandma Granny Smith.)
Twilight was totally helpless to that old trick, and had to continue downing down on all the remaining dishes. As she was trying to get down a mouth full of Apple Muffins Twilight suddenly got a tap on the back from Applejack saying "I would say that you are almost like a part of the family now.", causing Twilight to spit them out. (She was already having a hard time imagining getting friends, so suddenly getting a second family sounded like a very big step!)
After tons of eating Twilight was now sporting a bit of a hanging belly, as Spike now was in charge of checking the list until she had properly digested some of her meal.
"Ha, Ha! And that pony at times called Him a heavy eater!" Adult Dragon Spike said as he laughed over how Twilight now looked.
"I guess she should have counted on this when she took on Celestia's task." The unicorn version of Spike added.
"I guess this Apple Pony is feeling very filled and juicy now!" Big dragon Spike said.
"Yeah! She was otherwise so...so...Sour!" The unicorn Spike said, trying to also make a good pun. (But a look from his dragon counterpart showed that he had clearly failed.)
Outside the real Spike was looking down on the list over what the next step could be, and then he started to search with his eyes all over the sky.
"Hm. There is suppose to be a Pegasus pony named "Rainbow Dash", that is suppose to clear the clouds." He said as he was looking after said Pegasus.
Twilight was just about to remark on what a bad job this pony was doing (Given that there was still a few clouds left.), but right then she ended up getting knocked right into a mud pit by who seemed to be Rainbow Dash!
"Bam! Bull's-eye!" Adult Dragon Spike said and laughed over what had happen, while Unicorn Spike gave a big more concerning "Oh Dear! I hope she's alright."
As Twilight got up from the mud she got her first good look at this dashing flyer. Rainbow Dash surely lived up to her name, as her mane was a perfectly coloured rainbow.
She laughed a little over how dirty Twilight looked, and she said that she would "Help her with that."
Said help then seemed to be her grabbing a could, and jump on it in order to make it rain all over Twilight! (In one way it did help her get rid of the mud she had got earlier.)
Wanting to fix that too Rainbow Dash decided to create a small tornado around Twilight, getting her dried up. (And also making her mane and tail all curly and puffed out in the process!)
The sight of Twilight's mane looking like this was enough for both Rainbow Dash and Spike (And the two version of him inside him head.) to fall backwards onto the ground and laughing hysterically!
Wanting to change the subject Twilight started asking Rainbow Dash is she really was the one responsible for the weather job.
Rainbow was told them both that she was, and also mentioned about her love for flying fast (And one day hoping to become a part of the Wonderbolts, the greatest flying troop in all of Equestria.)
Coming of as a little bit lazy with the cloud job (In Twilight's eyes at least.) she challenged Rainbow Dahs to prove herself, especially when the blue pegasus said that "She could clear the sky in 10 seconds flat."
Said and done the pegasus did just that, as she flew around like a greased lighting and cleared the sky from all it's clouds in under 10 seconds!
The stunned faces of Spike and Twilight said it all over the incredible feat they had seen. (And Spike's inner personalities could only agree fully.)
"Did you see that speed she had?! That was incredible! That was fantastic!" The unicorn Spike said, for once being the louder of the two of them.
"Even faster then that Pink one that stayed in the air a few seconds first?" The adult dragon Spike asked in a very ironic way, making the unicorn Spike just facehoof himself and say "You just had to remind me about that one, didn't you?"
Seeing the face on Twilight made Rainbow Dash chuckle again and she said a quick "You are a blast Twilight. Maybe we can hang out some more later?", before flying away.
Once again Twilight looked unsure what to feel about these sudden friend requests, but Spike was a lot more eager over that Twilight now had to potential "friends" after only being in Ponyville for about 10 minutes.
Their next stop was the Town Hall (That was the location for where Celestia would later do her main entrance to the citizens of Ponyville.), and how the decorations of the place was looking.
The place looked amazing, with flower filled wreathes on every balcony, and banners that looked just like they had been brought from the castle itself! (Whoever has been doing this must really know their craft of designing.)
Spike was truly amazed by the sight of the place, while Twilight just thought that a pretty looking town hall would mean she would be closer to relax in her temporary home (At the city's library.) instead.
"So beautiful!" Spike said, to which Twilight assumed he was talking about the decors, but it was something else. (Or rather "Somepony" else.)
Standing there was the most beautiful and enchanting creature Spike had ever laid his eyes on!
With her all white coat, Indigo coloured and Curly mane and tail, and three blue gems at her cutie mark (Almost as she knew just what Spike wants!), she truly looked like the pony of his dreams!
Knowing that they needed to talk to her Spike wanted to make sure he looked good before speaking to her. (Wanting to make sure all of his spines on his head, back, and tail is looking straight and good.)
But it wasn't only regular Spike feeling like this, as also inside his head the two other versions of him was also getting madly in love with this Magnificent Mare!
"Oh! She is the most sublime and adequate beauty I have ever laid my eyes on!" The Unicorn version of Spike said and had hearts popping out of his eyes like a never ending flood!
Heck! The whole room they where in was right now filled with hearts with small pieces of poem attached to them, Rose bouquet's, and fan drawings of Spike (Or the two inner versions of him) and the White Mare together in a romantic way!
And even if the Adult Dragon version of Spike didn't seem to be as "crazy in love" as his counterpart he still had some secret feelings for this new pony in his life. (But his feelings was a bit more "Old Fashioned", and the most romantic thing he could imagine doing with this mare would be to kidnap her and then take her to an abandoned castle or cave, and keep her his prisoner.)
(What? He was still a full grown dragon after all.)
Back into real world Spike wasn't keeping much attention to what was happening. First this wonderful pony was talking with Twilight about fixing her hair, then they all three where visiting the designer store from where the white pony mostly works (Called "Carousel Boutique" by the white pony, if Spike wasn't mistaken.), and then after seeing her make Twilight try out a dozen of different outfits they both leaved very quickly. (Or rather, Twilight forced Spike out of the shop with him.
And despite him barley being able to do anything besides daydreaming Spike did noticed how the White Mare at one point said to Twilight how they could become "great friends" one day, which was something he really wished was true! (Cause that would mean that they would get to see each other much more often.)
After just dreaming about this mysterious mare for 5 more minutes Twilight got Spike back into thinking about what was next on the list.
Looking at it Spike got surprised to see that there was only one thing left to check out! (And it seemed to be a pretty easy one.)
"Music, Twilight" Spike said.
"Perfect! All I need to do is a small sound check on it, and then I can finally head for my very own library!" Twilight said, sounding very excited and encourage on her mission now when it was almost ending.
Hearing some music from around the corner the two of them expected it to be a band or a pony choir practicing, but strangely enough it was just a single pony (A yellow pegasus) that was conducting a choir of birds!
Spike had once heard Twilight read a book telling stories about some ponies having a talent for communicating with animals, but he never thought he would get to see it himself!
There was at least 20 different kinds of birds sitting next to each other on the branches, and this pegasus was making them all sing in perfect harmony. (Or rather, she carefully tells one of the birds that it is "a little tiny bit of with it rhythm", but it all sounded so great that Spike would probably have never noticed it.)
The funny thing was that while she seemed to have no problems at all talking to wild animals, she got awfully shy and quiet once Twilight tried talking to her.
Neither Spike or Twilight could barley make out what she was saying to them (As she was whispering all she said.), but they seemed to make out that her name was "Fluttershy".
But as soon as this Fluttershy saw Spike she pretty much shoved Twilight to the side as she (For the first time since meeting her.) excitingly said "A Baby Dragon!" to said baby dragon.
All Fluttershy pretty much did was to give Spike lots and lots of praise for simply being of a very specific species. (And it was something he personally couldn't get to much of, given how often he wouldn't even get a thank you from Twilight for all his hard works.) And the two smaller versions of him (inside his head) agreed fully.
"Finally, somepony who actually shows some real respect to us dragons!" The full grown dragon one said.
"I also finds it truly fascinating to meet a pony who could be so interested in wanting to learn about our kind!" The unicorn one said, clopping his hooves a few times in excitement.
"Haven't had someone being this curious about us besides Twilight, and even she stopped carrying while she still was a filly!" The adult dragon said, wondering how "today youth" could be so uninterested in learning new things.
Twilight tried to force this little bond between the two off by simply putting Spike on her back and move on, but it backfired horribly as Fluttershy simply followed alongside them.
"Didn't she have birds or something to practice?" Twilight muttered to herself as Fluttershy and Spike had once again started a new conversation.
"It's so incredible that you can talk! I have never heard about talking dragons before, but I have also never meet a real life one either, so I guess that makes sense." Fluttershy said as she truly was over the moon of joy over this.
"Tell me, what does Dragon's like to talk about?" She asked Spike, to which he said "What do you want to know about?"
"Everything you can tell me about yourself!" Fluttershy then said, much to the utter horror of Twilight as she knew Spike was probably going to take that saying literally! (And he did just that.)
"Sigh!"
"This is going to be a looooooooooong walk." Twilight said to herself.
After literally having Spike tell his entire life story to this stranger pegasus Twilight was absolutely tired, and wanted nothing more then to relax and rest inside the library that was going to serve as her temporary home.
Looking up she could see it rising up in the distance, and what a sight it was. Towering up over 100 feet tall this massive Golden Oak's tree had been modified completely to work as a functional home. It had doors, several windows, and even a few balconies and platforms for good measure.
And even the entrance sign that was just a picture of a book felt to the young unicorn like it was saying "Welcome Home, Twilight" to her.
Starting to pick up her pace (and getting a little trotting into it) Twilight was aiming to just get inside and escape all of this madness she would have had to endure so far.
Just then she could hear that Spike had finally finished talking about himself, and Twilight believed that this last walk could also get to be a very quiet one.
That's when Spike said "That is everything, except for when I and Twilight arrived today. Want to hear about that?" and Fluttershy happily answered "Oh yes!"
This was to much for Twilight. She had just reached outside the library, and she was not going to just stand outside for 10 minutes just so Spike could talk about everything they had been doing on their trip through this city!
Quickly making up an excuse that "Her little Baby Dragon is really tired and needs his sleep.", and when Spike started to protest she bumped him off her back and say that "He is so sleepy he can't even keep his balance."
(And then she also gave a typical "innocent" smile with lots of teeth, as to really make her act believable.)
Spike knew what was going on, and so did the two versions of him in his head.
"Oh, wow. The old "Sleepy Baby Dragon" trick. Haven't been forced by Twilight to do that 100s of times before." The grown up dragon version of Spike said and once again let out a few upset smoke clouds from his nostrils.
"I have to actually agree with you on this one. Twilight has been using this excuse at our Spike's expense to many times to count. I even remember a time when she used it in order to get some more time for a school project she wasn't finished with." The unicorn version of Spike said, and laid one of his hoofs at his forehead to show great shame in Twilight still acting like Spike could be her escape goat for many occasions.
But that also failed for Twilight as Fluttershy lifted Spike up in her arms, and seemed to care even more about him now when she thought he was "sleepy". (And on top of it she was starting to join them into the library as well!)
Whishing nothing more then to get inside and escape everyone Twilight grabbed Spike out of Fluttershy's hoofs, pushed her outside of the tree house, and then in her best polite voice said "Thanks for everything and Good Bye!" before slamming the door in her face!
After a full day of eating apple dishes, getting exposed to both winds and rains, tried on about 12 different dresses, and finally listen to Spike tell his whole life story to a animal loving pony Twilight finally felt like she could truly relax.
It was just her and Spike standing in the dark of the tree house, but for her this was the best part of the day yet. She could basically stand like this forever.
"Twilight." Spike asked.
"Yes Spike?" Twilight answered.
"May I ask something?" Spike said.
"Yes you can. What is it?" Twilight asked.
"How come you have been acting so, (how do I say this best) rude?" Spike asked, feeling a little worried that she was not taking advantage of all the friendship requests that had practically been given to her all day.
"I'm sorry if I have come off as that, but we got some serious problems to face." Twilight said, sounding really worried for real.
This made Spike also very scared and he asked her "What is it?!"
"Nightmare Moon is coming back!" Twilight Sparkle said. (To which Spike rolled his eyes heavily, as she was about to rant about this again.) "It's true Spike! After being trapped on the moon for a 1000 years straight she will be coming back to take the place as the one true ruler of Equestria! We don't have much time, and what time we do have I don't want to waste on talking to a bunch of "crazy" ponies who all wants to be my friend!"
"Oh, brother." Spike said to himself. (And inside his head the Adult Dragon version of Spike said "Couldn't have said it better myself.", while the Unicorn one said "I'll concern.")
"Now tell me where is the light switch on this place?" Twilight asked, and in the very next second the light suddenly came back up and the two of them got shocked and surprised to see that they where suddenly in a party zone!
Turns out that the pink pony that had just gasped loudly and then ran away when Twilight had tried to say "Hi" to her had thrown this party. (And this was also the moment when she thought that it was most fitting to do her part of the introduction.)
She was speaking in about 100 miles per hour, but this was what Spike picked up when trying to keep up to her talking to Twilight.
Her name was Pinkie Pie.
She had a "talent" as she called it, to throw parties.
She seems to know just about every pony that lives in this town.
When Twilight had suddenly appeared in the city without Pinkie being prepared that's when she had been gasping in shock and running away, as she knew she needed to make a "Welcome to Ponyville" party for her.
And apparently she could tell that Twilight didn't seem to have any friends, and that's why the party also worked as a way for Twilight to get closer with "her new friends". (As she had been inviting all the four other ponies Twilight and Spike had meet during the day.)
All while listening to Pinkie's never ending ramble about all of this Twilight was pouring up a drink for her to sip on, but what Spike noticed all to late was that Twilight had accidentally picked a Tabasco bottle instead of a soda bottle!
He tried to warn her but it was to late (As Twilight had already taken a whole gulp of it!), and just when Pinkie also added in the very delicate question "Would you want to also have me as one of your friends?" Twilight's mane (Both figuratively and LITERALLY!) catch fire by the hot sauce she had drank, and she rushed over to dive her head into a punch bowl to cool down!
"Well...At least now she has a fifth pony wanting to be her friend. That's always something." Spike thought as he tried his best to think positive after Twilight ended up making a (excuse the pun) Ass of herself at her own party!
After getting her head out of the bowl Twilight Sparkle looked very, very embarrassed of having everypony staring at her after her "Hot Sauce Incident", and she just wanted to leave and go home.
Realizing in the very next second that this was in fact her home she instead headed to her bedroom upstairs to be alone. (Really hating more and more how this day had turned out.)
Spike was first on his way to follow Twilight along and comfort her, but that's when he suddenly got stopped by Fluttershy from earlier.
"I'm sorry! I don't want to stop you from talking to your friend, but she looked like she might want to be alone for some time." The yellow pegasus said as she instead suggested for Spike to have some fun with her and the other ponies.
Spike was a bit unsure at first to do this (Since he had not known a moment when he HADN'T been at Twilight's side and help her with everything that she was in trouble with.), but the open and welcoming kindness of these 5 ponies that he had barley known anything about made him feel so "accepted" that he just had to be with them some more!
And for most of the evening (and late night) Spike was having a blast with all there funny ponies that they had meet.
He had been told incredible stories from Rainbow Dash, of how she had managed pull off the most dangerous and extreme flight stunts already at the age of a filly, and how "The Wonder Bolts should be knocking on my door any day now and beg me to join them!". And even if half the stuff she was saying sounded a bit to far fetched (Seriously? Creating a Sonic Rainboom when only being a filly?), Spike still got pretty engulfed into every single part of it.
Fluttershy's everlasting care about Spike (And everyone else) easily made this a party where everybody always was on good hoof with each other. (And her curiously about Spike and him being a dragon always made him feel that somehow he was in the centre of it all, and he liked to be that for a change.)
Applejack was a real barrel of laughter at the party as she would be willing to dare doing just about any kind of party challenge against anypony wanting one. (Mostly being against Rainbow Dash.) It could be everything from bobbing apples, to barrel rolling, lasso tossing, or the always classic on "Putting the tail on the pony". And even if she didn't always won every challenge she got tossed on her she was always showing a good sportsmanship to it, and that was something that made Spike feeling really proud about her.
Pinkie was still the most unpredictable pony as she could just be rambling up 78 past party events in just 2 minutes, while covering a cupcake with that hot sauce from earlier, eating it whole(!), and still talking about her past party memories without showing any signs on the sauce burning her in any way!
He had even shared a moment with Rarity as a random pony accidentally made him bump into her while a slow dance was being played! Rarity didn't want to come off as rude so she shared the dance with Spike, and he in return could barley keep himself from fainting as he was so close to this amazingly gorgeous white mare!
Inside Spike's head the two smaller versions of him was also having a blast dancing and eating, as their room was now having the same party feeling as it was outside!
"WOHO! Best party ever! Boring Twilight would never let us be at a cool thing like this! Finally a place where dragon can feel welcomed!" The Adult Dragon version of Spike said as he jugged a can of soda in one go, and then smashed it flat against his tick skull!
"I too am admitting that this is a very entertaining environment for us to endure, but I can't help to also worry about how Twilight has it. It is always a hard thing to suddenly move from one place to the next, even if it's only temporary. And having on top of that the responsibilities to prepare a big ceremony for the Princess, and also getting 5 sudden friend requests in one day could easily be a bit unsettling for anypony!" The Unicorn version of Spike said before hearing a small "Phssss!" could be heard, and as he looked up he could see that it was the full grown dragon that had just used his unicorn horn to open up a new soda can.
"Try to for once forget about that bookwork of a pony, and learn to have a little fun." The big dragon said as he then handed the soda over to his pony friend, who in return started levitating the can so that he could take a sip of it.
"Perhaps, maybe. Perhaps." He said as he started drinking from it.
For Twilight this had all seemed like a bad dream to her.
First having herself and Spike sent to a complete unknown village, then having her trying to (for the first in a long time in her life) interact with other ponies, and now there was a LOUD, never ending party happening in her new home, and nothing she was doing could make it stop!
For hours and hours she had just been laying in her bed, (with a pillow covering her head) waiting for it to happen.
The Summer Sun Celebration.
Once that was done she was going to be able to finally leave this place, and return back to Canterlot so she could talk to the Princess again about her prediction of Nightmare Moon's returning! (And making sure she is speaking to the Princess in person this time.)
Looking at the clock she could see that it was 4 in the morning. (Close, but still an hour or two from when the ceremony was going to take place.)
"Sigh" "Only a little time left." Twilight said to herself before suddenly hearing the door to her room slam open!
Looking down she saw that it was Spike entering the room. (And wearing a lampshade over his head, as to really show that he was a true "party animal" now.)
"Twilight! Me and the ponies down there misses you! Don't you want to come down and join us?" Spike asked, finally feeling that he needed to ask her at least once about it.
"No Spike. I wont go down there cause all the ponies in this town are CRAZY!" Twilight said and tossed the pillow over her head again.
"I know that all of this is happening pretty fast for you Twilight, and that you are very worried about the future for everything. But tonight we are having a party, and I think you would do best to lighten up a little bit and join us while you still can." Spike said before leaving to return to the party downstairs again.
Once Spike left the room Twilight did get up from bed, but not to join the party but to gaze out of the room's window to look at the mare in the moon. (That could be extra visible this night.)
She picked up one of her books that she had packed from her tower, and read to herself the legends that had made her so worried in the first place.
"Legend has it that on the longest day of the thousandth year, the stars will aid in her escape, and she will bring about everlasting night."
"I really hope that it is just an old ponytale, and not me actually going crazy..." Twilight thought to herself before hearing the door slam open again, and having Spike show up again to say "It's time now Twilight! Everypony is leaving the library to meet up in the Town Hall to witness the Summer Sun Celebration!"
Looking at the clock again Twilight could see that it was now 5:30 in the morning, and she as she followed Spike down she couldn't help but get perplexed over the fact that she was so obsessed with this "fear" that she had blindly been staring at the moon for about 1 and a half hour!
At Town Hall everything seemed to be prepared perfectly.
Rarity's decorations made the insides of the place look truly royal.
Fluttershy's singing birds gave great music to play for the entrance of the Princess.
Rainbow Dash had kept the sky clear from clouds so that there would be nothing blocking the perfect sun rising from happening.
And Applejack stood ready with several tables filled with Apple treats for everypony to enjoy afterwards.
But before the celebration could start the mayor of Ponyville (Appropriately named "Mayor Mare".) came out on stage to first say how honoured they all where over that their town was the place where this years Summer Sun Celebration would take place, and to then welcome out the Princess to just raise the sun for everyone.
As she was speaking Twilight looked out through the large windows and saw how the "Mare in the Moon" formation on the orb suddenly seemed to vanish!
She wasn't sure if she had just seen what she had seen (Or if it was her paranoia about legend that was messing with her head again.), but she decided to try ignore it and just enjoy the ceremony like every other pony was doing.
Spike on the other hand was trying his hardest to keep himself awake. Despite him at times wanting to show that he could be "a grown up" like the others he was still the age of a child, and just like a child after dancing and partying all night he was starting to get really sleepy as nothing at the moment was happening.
"Just a little longer. Just, "Yawn!" a little longer." Spike thought to himself as he let out a large yawn in mid-sentence.
Once finished with her speech Fluttershy gave the signal to her birds and Rarity started pulling the curtains.
As the grand music was playing and the light was being lit onto the left balcony everypony sheered and applaud...for about 5 seconds until they saw that there was no one there!
Most of the ponies got slightly confused by this unexpected setback in the ceremony (Except for Twilight, who was getting more and more worried that her worst fears had come true!), and the mayor did her best in trying to calm them down.
While that was happening Spike's two other versions was ones again in a bit of a disagreement if this was even worth watching.
"And now we are having a delay from the Princess! Look at how surprised I am over this happening!" The Adult sized Dragon version of Spike said, as he was laying himself over the table ready to take a rest.
"This is a very important event! You can't seriously be expecting them to rush through it all, just because you are feeling a little sleepy!" The Unicorn version of Spike said back.
"You know who else is very tired?" The adult dragon asked, to which the unicorn said "Who?"
"Spike." The adult dragon said, and smiled his typical "Happy over winning an argument" smile to the unicorn.
The unicorn hated those rare moments when his dragon counterpart actually had the upper advantages in the debate, and all he himself could add to that was "Well, at least he is still at the ceremony itself. He might be very sleepy, but he is doing his hardest not to start sleeping."
"Given how it will probably all be cancelled any second now I wonder what is even the point waiting? The adult dragon said as he was trying to get comfortable on the table.
"The Princess is just a little late! What is the worst that could happen?" The unicorn one asked rhetorically.
Then suddenly it happen!
From behind the curtain a mystical dark blue (with little twinkles to it, making it look like a star filled sky.) fog suddenly started to appear, causing some of the ponies to gasp in fear.
It grew larger and larger at the stage, and then suddenly a big tall Alicorn Mare appeared!
She was all black with the exception of a dark purple helmet and chest piece that she was wearing. The dark blue transparent things from earlier also was shown to be parts of her mane and tail, but where the Princess's mane and tail had a beautiful flow in many different colours that made everypony feel "warmth" and "safe", the one on this pony was only making them feel "cold" and "scared".
When pretty much all the other ponies had no idea who this stranger was Twilight sadly knew as she said "Nightmare Moon!" to herself!
The sight of this terror of the night took Spike by surprise so much that he lost his consciousness and feel off Twilight's back, fainting!
When that happen the whole view of the outside world from Spike's eyes got pitch black, and his two alternative versions started to freak out over not being able to know what was happening!
"What in the name of Equestria just happen?!"
"Who was that dark and scary pony?!"
"What did she want?!"
"And what had she done to the Princess?!"
To Be Continued!
