A art-trade story I made earlier this day for
monterrang, where we find a young filly girl going on a adventure on Hearth's Warming Eve.
monterrang also made this nice image that is the thumbnail for the story.

It was Hearth's Warming Eve morning, and as the sun was rising over all of Equestria every pony woke up and felt the Heart Filled Spirit in the air.
One of these ponies that really, REALLY loved this holiday was a small filly earth pony named Twinkle Bell, who lived with her mom and dad in a nice little house that was laying just outside of the city. Placed out amongst the peaceful fields of nearby farmer ponies, and with the nature side (The forests and the mountains) just a stone throw away.
Twinkle Bell had a Chartreuse Green coat, a Lilac Purple mane, and a big smile that nopony could resist. This little filly had always been known to be the most kind and helpful little foal that anypony would know, and this was extra clear on Hearth's Warming Eve when she would do literally anything she could to make everypony she knew to feel happy and filled with good hearts.
As she woke up she immediately looked out her window to see that it was snowing, and that made her jump up and down with excitement!
"Yay! It's snowing on Heart's Warming Eve! This is going to be a great day!" She shouted loudly as she was really happy over this.
Some other ponies that also knew she was happy (And had just been woken up early thanks to her attics) was her parents.
They didn't dislike their daughters very positive attitude towards the holiday, but they did feel at times that she took it a bit to much seriously.
When waking up on every day this month she would be begging her parents all day to...
• Get a good tree from the forest.
• Decorate the house.
• Bake some candy and treats.
• Decorate the tree.
• Collect some money to give to charity.
• And Decorate everything that hadn't be decorated already!
(And all of this together as a family.)
The end result was always very pretty, but at times it felt like their little Twinkle Bell was getting a bit TO excited with everything, and forgot to also take some time to just relax and enjoy a few days of not having to go to school. (And in her parents case, work.)
Especially today when it finally was Hearth's Warming Eve pretty much every kind of preparation that could be made for it had been made, and still Twinkle Bell was running around the house as she thought she was still having 10 different tasks left to finish up!
Knowing that she was still going to reach her parents bedroom they decided to make out a plan to try and make it a little more "calmer" of a holiday day today.
"Mom? Dad? Ah! There you are!" Twinkle Bell said as she walked into her parents bedroom. (With them still laying in it.)
"Have you still not got up yet? It's already 6 in the morning, and we got tons of stuff to do!" Twinkle Bell said as she started to shake and up on the bed in an attempt to make her parents get up.
"Honey. We have been thinking about this..." Her mother said as Twinkle calmed down to listen to them.
"And we think that you have made such a good job preparing this year that we think you should take your day off." Her father added in.
Twinkle Bell was first a bit confused by what they where both telling her, but when she recalled that it meant "Not doing anything" she got a little upset.
"But Mom, Dad! I want to help! I want to make this the best Hearth's Warming Eve ever!" She said, pleading for them to change their minds.
While the mother felt that she didn't know at all how to put a stop to this the father pony got an idea and said "How about if we asked you to go on an adventure?"
"And adventure?!" Both Twinkle Bell and the mother said at once, Twinkle Bell out of pure cheer, and the mother in pure confusion.
"Yes. Legends say that in some of the caves carved into the mountains behind our home lays treasures!" The daddy said (In typical dad way of making anything he is about to tell the little ones sound like something big and grand), and Twinkle Bell was already hooked on to hear more.
"What treasures?!" She asked super interested, and the father answered by saying "Gold coins! Jewels! And 20 feet tall statues that where entirely made out of Chocolate!" while doing movements with his hoofs to try and paint up an cave filled with all of these things for her.
If there was one thing Twinkle Bell loved more then the winter holiday then it was a real adventure, and this one sounded like the greatest one she had ever heard!
"Oh my gosh!!! I need to find it!" Twinkle Bell said as she rushed out of her parents bedroom and down the hallway. "Don't worry Mom and Dad! I will eat my breakfast and brush my teeth before I leave!" Her voice could be heard saying.
While the dad now felt like going back to sleep, the mother felt a bit more concern as she said "Do you really think that is the most safest thing to let our little daughter be doing?"
"Many of those caves has been empty for years, and we both know that she would never go so far away so she would get lost." The dad said as he laid one arm around the neck of his wife, and brought her down with him to give her a small kiss.
"I really hope that you are right about this." The mother said before she joined her husband into start sleeping again.
Just like she had promised her parents Twinkle Bell had her breakfast and brushed her teeth before she made her way outside, and on her way to the mountains and adventure!
The mountains had not been strange place for her (As she had been hiking in those on a few family trips), but to search after caves gave it a whole new side of exploring.
The first caves she checked out was small ones at the bottom of the mountain that she had been in before, but as she went up higher and higher up the caves got bigger and harder to find.
During her walk to the mountain she had made herself a little scared by imagining some of the caves being inhabited by Dragons or something else pretty creepy! And given that she neither had wings or a magic horn to defend herself with she got slightly nervous of how to act in an emergency.
But her fear pretty soon got replaced with boredom as cave after cave was completely empty and with nothing to give her! (Good or Bad)
She wasn't stupid. She knew that when her father had told her about chests filled with jewels or giant chocolate statues that was just him making it up.
She knew that there wouldn't be "The perfect Treasure Chamber" in one of the caves, but she was expecting to find something!
She had by now check out almost all of the caves, and as the snow was starting to blow up into a full storm she knew she didn't have much time before she would need to come back home.
Looking up she saw by the very end of the mountain side walk one last cave. A cave that was more distant and hidden then any of the other ones, and the thoughts that maybe her treasure was hiding inside of it became the factor that made Twinkle Bell choose to explore that one as well.
Looking inside the cave she first thought that she had made another dud, but then she was something in the dark that seemed to be...moving!
First she was about to run away (Thinking that it was a dragon.), but seeing that it didn't seem to be much larger then her parents she walked back to look closer. (It could be an injured Pony after all.)
"E-Excuse me. Are you hurt my friend?..." She asked before getting a aggressive "Hiss!" in response!
She backed away frighten as she saw just what she was sharing a cave with!
The glowing blue eyes, the sharp fang teeth, and the holes all over it's body was all clear signs that she had just run into a changeling!
Twinkle Bell didn't know this but Changelings had a long history of being great outcasts of the Pony Community. They possessed the ability to change shape into different ponies at will, and unlike ordinary ponies they feed themselves on the love from others.
Being so much different then the others the ponies forced the changelings away from their cities, and they where instead forced to live in self-made "Hives" in large groups.
But some changelings preferred to be cut off from the group and live by itself, and that was exactly what this one had done!
He had been all alone (And very hungry) for most of his life but he liked it (or at least that is what he had been telling himself for all these years.), and having now some small filly entering on his territory was something he was NOT okay with! There was only one thing a young healthy pony as herself would fit for him.
"Food!" He said as he got up and started to walk up to the young Twinkle Bell, that was scared stiff from seeing this monster wanting to eat her!
She didn't know what to do. She just wished she could invite the strange creature over to her place for some food, and that's when she realised that she could do just that!
"Wait! Wouldn't you rather like to come over to my place and get some real food?" She asked the changeling, who just stop his walk and just looked confused for a moment.
"I don't know who you are, but I don't think that anypony should be left alone and hungry on Hearth's Warm Eve." Twinkle Bell said, and as she said that the changeling started to feel how something was growing inside of his belly!
Love!
He hadn't have any true love to eat in such a long time that he had completely forgot how good it felt to have inside! He had been planning to simply harvest the love of the poor girl like all the other changelings would do, but this way seemed to be a much more easier way to get it!
"I was a little scared when you hissed at me, but looking at you now I think that you are not so different looking from me." Twinkle Bell said as she didn't seem to notice how every kind thing she said to the changeling was making it's belly grow out. "In fact I think you are a pretty cute looking pony."
That last thing she said made a REALLY big lump of love hit the changeling's stomach, and he knew he had found just what kind of stuff she should say to him in order to feed him more.
"So you think I'm cute? Any other words you would like to describe me with?" The changeling asked, and Twinkle Bell didn't hesitate to tell him every single one she could come up with.
"Kind."
"Brave."
"Handsome."
"Strong."
"Smart"
"Soft."
"Big."
"Round."
"Filling."
As it went one the changeling started to see a small pattern in the words the filly was using.
All of the sudden they all had to do with something like "Hefty" or "Cuddly", and looking down at himself he noticed why.
At this point his whole midsection had started to grow so big that it was brunching the cave floor! If it didn't stop soon he wouldn't be able to move!
Looking at the cave entrance behind Twinkle Bell he saw his only chance of escaping this super kind girl, and he made a run for it!
Unfortunately as he was trying to run pass the filly his sloshing belly made him loose balance, and he ended up tumbling over!
He tried to get up quickly again, but his legs couldn't get any grip! (As his big belly was in the way.) so he was truly stuck now, with not way of getting up on his own!
Looking back Twinkle Bell saw how the now very large changeling had tumbled over to his side, and his legs was trying desperately to get himself up!
Smiling to herself Twinkle Bell made her way and sat down next to the very well feed changeling as they both looked at the cave entrance with the snowstorm still roaring wild.
For Twinkle Bell it was a mesmerising image of nature in motion, while for the changeling it was like a window to freedom from which he was never going to be able to reach.
"It looks like the storm will be going on for some time." Twinkle Bell said as to her new found friend, who in return was to focused on trying to get a grip with his hooves to listen to her.
"My parents are probably wondering where I am by now, but I'm sure they know that I took safe shelter in one of these caves. Still I am going to quickly make my way back to my home once the storm stops. Don't want to make them all to worried."
The changeling couldn't believe just how much love one small pony could have as he was now feeling like he had been feeding on enough love to keep him from being hungry for 20 years!
At this point it was almost seeming like a punishment for him. For trying to attack the filly and taking her love, he had now been forced to eat all the love in the world! (And she wasn't stopping saying nice things to him!)
"You know, it is starting to get really cold now. Good thing that you suddenly got a lot more soft and warm to lay right next to." Twinkle Bell said as she laid up to the changeling's belly fat, and felt how it was warming her in the cold like a blanket.
"Stop giving me your "BURP!" love!" The changeling tried to say, while getting so full that it was starting to hurt.
"But I'm only being this nice to you cause I feel you need my love. That you will be so cold and hungry without it." Twinkle Bell said, not really knowing the irony in what she had said.
But the changeling did as he said "Believe me. I will probably never go hungry ever in my life again!" while another burp escaped his mouth.
"That makes me happy to hear. Helping another pony is just what Hearth's (Yawn.) Warming Eve is about..." Twinkle Bell said before falling asleep next to the very large changeling.
The changeling felt a little relived that she was asleep now (As no talking meant no more gaining for him.), but he couldn't get completely calm yet as in Twinkle Bell's sleep he heard her say "When I find my parents I will show them to you, and then you can be a part of our Heart's Warming Eve's celebration."
"Oh boy. How will I ever survive this?!" The changing asked himself as if this filly's parents where nearly as generous as she was then he would probably never be able to move again!
