I really want to go to my local Barnes and Noble and just sit in the cafe and steal tutorials and techniques out of their drawing books and just draw for a few hours XD There's this HUUUUGE sketchbook. Check it out. You will pee yourself! Its so big, you can't NOT have it D:

I want to just go someplace and draw with friends. I miss drawing with friends. KarmaW0lf has actually got me to draw for several days in a row now, because she was drawing to. For some strange reason, that actually helped me feel motivated to draw. I'm in a weird drawing mood, as well so I think I am having a really good spurt of drawing muse and energies. Hopefully, I can keep it fresh and keep drawing.

Be sure to read the reviews, some people have posted pictures of it and its pretty dang big. It has 300 pages to sketch in. Counting both front and back it totals at 600! It's insane! People say it is heavy, so carrying back and forth might be a hassle, but I don't care! :D I might think about getting it next month, if the price is still reasonable like it is, now.

After I took this class in school, which was basically a sketchbook class, I had to fill 200 pages of a sketchbook FULL (not one drawing on a page, but many drawings) in one semester. It helped me accept that not all my drawings will be perfect and to move on and try to improve them, draw everyday as many times a day as you can, and that long breaks from drawing are good to refresh you, but never help improve you. Also that smaller sketch books are great for more mobile work, so when an idea hits you, you don't have to waste time setting anything up. Write it down or sketch it quickly in something small.

Clawshawt and I have been messaging each other art and animations for critique and encouraging each other to draw by setting goals and giving weekly themes/suggestions. It's good to have a friend or two to bounce idea off one another and they are always willing to give more of a critique than "nice!" lol It's really helped me. :) Other art forums are great for this if you think your friends might be only giving nice critique. I know how professors to bounce work ideas off of. It's good to have a nice network. Not only for jobs, but to talk art and stories with :

Hm, that's a good idea! Mind if I jump in the fray with you and Clawshawt? It helps me to know that I'm not the only one. I was good, once, because I practiced everyday, many times a day. And yes, the best way to get better is to draw without and eraser. That's what I had to train myself to do. Draw many pictures, sometimes not even a fleshed out picture. Just draw figures over and over and over, draw landscapes over and over, even on the same page until the page cannot be identified as any recognizable subject matter that you were working on. I did that in my old highschool sketchbook I am finally finished out after six years of having it. I would draw figures over themselves and over and over until you just saw nothing but lines on the paper. You couldn't tell what the heck figure or if they were anything at all. Then, I would fill out another page. Different poses, over and over again. I got freaking crazy good. So good, I could whip up a random pose out of my head and it actually LOOKED RIGHT! It wasn't perfect, but shoot, man, it felt so great to actually be convinced I had improved and my stuff acted and looked right!

Anyways, I have to start a wee bit over, because I did go so long without drawing, I went backwards :( I got so depressed I literally lost any will to draw anymore. Like, I just had no reason to do it. No future so that was an awful thing. Now, I'm struggling to get back into it, buuut, I think if I get a new sketchbook and start over, do what you say, get a network of artists going, that should help me improve, because they are actually giving me feed back. A lot of my talents are failing me and I'm neglecting them, because I can't get feedback on them to improve. Or someone to tell me I'm actually good at what I do and if I should keep it up, LOL.

I'll contact Elicia and ask her if I could get some themes from her and I'll send her some things. I don't want to bother her, though, I know she has things to do and commissions. I need to get my quality back up to commission quality. I was good at one point, but didn't seem to take advantage of commission work :( Shame, that. Now, I know how to price things, but I suck! LOL.

Oh, goodness, that is the question! I really want it, but I am having a serious delimma of deciding if I really need it or, if I should get a large 11 by 14 monster, but its much much thinner and lighter and deal with that. However, this book is at a good price for something as thick as it. IF I could afford to buy both, that would help me feel like I'm starting fresh and not trying to continue what I had before. That seems to get me discouraged, if I see old work when I was much better, at the same time, it encourages me, but yeah, its weird. Anyways, I babble. Take that book into consideration, though, but be smart about it. I need to make a place for it, myself :/

Sure, I think we'd both love to chat about art more, since we really want to get into it. And I don't think friends will mind helping out^^ We may work a lot, so may not always get an answer to you right away, but we'll respond the best we can :D And seeing others motivated to work gets us motivated too lol

And yeah, drawing over sketches is one of my favorites. hehe But hey, at least you're willing to get back into and try hard to get to the level you were at or probably better, since that knowledge is there, the muscle memory just isn't. So we just build on what we know and practice. You'll get there, I have faith in you! You're already talented and I can see your willingness to work and love for art. ^^

And hey, don't feel bad about not taking commissions back then. I probably could've taken more when I had more time, but I'm glad I waited, asked a few friends some feedback and now I feel way more comfortable taking commissions from strangers/new clients online. ^^ Plus, all you can do is move forward !!

Yeah, I just wish I would have been willing to do it. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY, though, this time, with a tablet that actually works RIGHT and ALL THE TIME, I won't have to turn people down when I could be making a profit! >_<

Aahhhhh there's so much I love about this! His expression, the pose, the claws and toes, his shiny hair, the tail mouth thingy, it's all well done! One of my favorite things you've drawn/colored thus far! It all looks very natural and has good balance/flow to it. <3
