Silo was a barn owl at Horizon Wings who we sadly lost this year. She lived much longer than wild barn owls usually do, reaching 19 years old! She helped us with programs and had a happy life in a spacious aviary with her own heat lamp to keep her warm in the winter months.

She lived a very good life, and didn't have any physical problems. :) She was raised from birth (hatching?) to be a program bird at another wildlife center in South Dakota. She did free-flighted programs at that center, and when they eventually had to close, they had to find a permanent home for her. So we took her in and continued to do (non-flighted) programs. She had a very large aviary where she could fly around, so she had a nice home and lived to be quite old.
