Thanks everyone for your comments! I didn't base it upon any one photo. I used to live in Alaska for nearly 20 years of my life, so I knew what parkas and old sleds looked like from memory. :) The lower dog I used a photo reference for his face pattern, since I wanted a sled dog look, not a show dog appearance.
I see you call them Alaskan, but they remind me of the story I just read of the three pre-Industrial era Russian hunters who were shipwrecked for six years on an Arctic island at 80 degrees north latitude. It's a fascinating story.
