It's the only draw back to this type of fractal. I rendered it at 15000 quality and the oversample was set to 5 and I can't get it to smooth over at the edges.

in post process render, try upping the filter radius
it'll make the post render slower by far, but it'll blur it slightly
smoothing the edges
post process render is a save all for me

I've tried that on similar pieces, I've even sent it as high as it can go and it'll smooth it over slightly but it make the center look wierd. I've tried the other option of lowering the gamma levels and while it gets rid of the speckles it also highlight the border between the rings2 and spherical variations that I use, it also turn the center blinding white. So for this type I've gone against the normal asthetics of fractal work and cranked the gamma to its maximun to create speckling that is more evenly distributed.

you may try low levels of blur/gaussian blur/radial blur around the transforms that greatly effect the picture

I love it, and you can sat that the grainyness is that there are imperfections in the stone that the structure is set on
