Commission for r-grenn of a female of Star Trek's alien race: The Caitian. Gotta love the fact that the 1970's animated series gave the writers the opportunity to flex their imaginations further, including some really out-there alien designs than anything the live-action series' budget and special FXs would have allowed.
Fun Fact: M'Ress - the original Caitian that made the species canon in the ST: TAS was voiced by Majel Barrett; Rodenberry's wife. ( Rodenberry: closeted furry confirmed! =P )

You never really realize how far we've advanced from the ideals and ideas of the 1960s. Why was Number One never the second-in-command of the "Enterprise"? She was a woman. Period.
I've never seen the Blueray discs of ST:TOS because I've never owned a Blueray player. But, I do agree with you. It was great that they did that for her.
