Jimo (pronounced gee-moh) Kallohrado is a native of the Sevii Islands, hailing from what's known to the mainland as Fortune Island. Part of a very large extended family of Buizels that have inhabited the island for many generations, right back into the times when primitive tribes of Pokemorphs fought for control of the islands, Jimo is a living example of ancient tradition and modern culture colliding head-on.
Many of Jimo's unique features are tied right into the event that would lead to his attnding the PCA, namely the Bui tribe's traditional rite of adulthood. An almost-forgotten ritual performed by those hoping to be a tribe's warriors or guardians, Jimo decided to go through with it to prove to his doubting father that he was worthy to attend a high-end battle academy. The rite involved going out to sea, and not returning until one had rerieved the tooth of a Sharpedo. Two days later, Jimo came back with four of them... "one for every time that stupid thing bit me".
Not surprisingly his injuries were very serious, the worst being both of his arm-fins mangled beyond hope of healing properly. Prosthetic replacements made of Kevlar were grafted on at the mainland hospital he was sent to, and after a bit of experimenting with them it didn't take him long to have them cut into their current shape, just for the sake of looking different.
The tribal marking dyes permanently into his fur hold extra-special meaning to him. The sun shape on his left shoulder is an insignia of sorts, identifying his native tribe. The Poli-swirls and lines on his fins are an old blessing, believed to grant extra speed when swimming. The Kyogre markings on his legs are thought to convey great strength, and were reserved only for the strongest and bravest of the tribe. Jimo wears these markings with great pride, along with his four trophies and an Everstone around his neck.
Now a senior at the PCA, Jimo has since taken up refereeing as his major and frequently presides over matches between Water-types. He's also recently been told that after he graduates, the school wants to hire him on as a full-time referee... not bad for someone who got half-eaten by a Sharpedo just to prove a point.
(This is officially the most complicated, but fun, character design I've ever come up with.Gonna be hard for me to top this one!)
