Happy New Years everybody! =D Things are really hectic here prepping to leave for the trip tomorrow but I've got a special new year’s pic for you anyway~ ^_^

I know I could have just shoved Petie or Andrew or Jules or Sammi or *proceeds to list off all my tinymon* in the costume and called it a day BUT since 2016 is the year of the monkey I decided to dust off an old idea I had and put it to use! =D

Meet Nathaniel Silverback, call him Nate, the little panpour who is this year’s Baby New Year! This little guy is about 9 months old, playful, innocent, active, curious, and energetic… which all adds up to make him an innocent little pain in the butt baby who has a tendency to climb up people and things, swipe stuff he’s curious about, playfully pull hair, and generally be an adorable pain for his mommy, whoever’s babysitting him, and anyone he meets. Not that he has any bad intentions of course, he’s just young enough everything is new, fun, and interesting… meaning he has to explore and play with it to find out what it is. The little monkey can be a general sweetheart most of the rest of the time when he’s not causing trouble…

Not that this makes things any easier for his mother, a slaking by the name of Grace Silverback. A promising vigoroth battler at the PCA during her junior year she had her whole life planned out to the point she was comfortable engaging in some late night flings with her boyfriend… a charming and persuasive simipour attending Viridian City’s local rich-kids, non-battling focused academy. Unfortunately one of those flings resulted in her become pregnant… a shock which resulted in early evolution as well (she’d originally planned to evolve AFTER graduating). To make a bad situation worse the moment her then boyfriend heard the words “I’m Pregnant” from her he promptly vanished with promises to send her money monthly for the baby and asking her to pretend they never met. Because of this she justifiably plans to use her big slaking hands to wring his scrawny neck should they ever meet again.

With her parents furious at her and expecting her to graduate from the PCA despite this Grace entered her senior year as a slaking single mother… and it has not been kind to her. Thanks to getting Truant back as an ability her body is hard-wired to need resting spells regularly, which means even WITH the hormones released from having given birth (and nursing her baby) helping her go longer between these spells she has a great deal of difficulty handling her active and mischievous baby, keeping her school grades up, AND maintaining her battle record… the latter two having taken a serious, visible decline since she gave birth. Moreover her temper wasn’t that good even before all this… as it stands now if you aren’t her baby, a little kid (or look like one), or a close friend of hers (which she doesn’t have many) expect Grace to be snippy at best and hostile at worst.

It’s not all bad news though, her ex-boyfriends cousin (a tubby, good-natured simisear by the name of Malcolm) had the decency to step up and help when his relative left her in the lurch. He now acts as a surrogate father/uncle figure towards Nate and babysits him for Grace regularly. Grace has also managed to form a friendship with Team Change of Heart due to one of their members having been left a single mother under similar circumstances, they’ve been helping to assist the slaking when able. And despite all her grumbling about his trouble-making, crying through the night, and the diaper changes Grace genuinely loves and dotes on her wittle baby boy… even if he took after his mommy size-wise and isn’t quite so little compared to most babies his age.

So here you have it, my Baby New Year of 2016 being proudly presented by his doting mother~ Feel free to cuddle and coo him at your own peril… he still enjoys swiping jewelry, glasses, and shiny things or pulling hair if he gets the chance~
