It was a chance rescue, hardly thought out and not at all planned. But as the fox stopped himself from falling into the abyss by grabbing onto a rooted branch on the cliff face, he reached out his staff and managed to give the plummeting feline something to grab on to. As she hung on for dear life, the fox looked up and saw that making the climb back to safety would be an arduous toil. Not to mention the dangers that awaited them once they got back topside. He looked back down to the feline below him; a stranger in passing, but potentially an ally. "Well, this is awkward. I'm Shamus, by the way, nice to meet you."
Thought I'd close out the year by submitting a picture that was drawn for me this year. Done by Dave Lillie of
dreamkeepers, I pitched this idea to him at the Monroe Comic Con. I highly enjoy Vi as a character in the series, and she is perhaps my favorite character. I thought it would be neat to introduce my character and her character in an amusing and perilous way, just for the sheer awkwardness of it. Nothing like a little shared danger to form a bond of being comrades in arms, even though it's not the most ideal of situations to make small talk.

Oooh!Oooh! Very charming sketch! I love the premise and attitude conveyed;Sure your guy will figure out some way to keep from meeting a plummet themed doom;The expressions are really well done and your little passage also adds a lot of character to the doodle. :)

Actually, there's very little danger of actually plummeting; the fox character has a fine control of air and wind, and can use it to prevent falling or to travel quickly up the slope. But catching Vi was pure reflex, he can think about how to get out of the situation after. ;) Also, saw your related picture, and it seems like we think alike in some ways. :)
