I finally got around to organizing my art files on my computer, separating them by year, and I figured that I'd try doing one of these things.
I looked through each year of my art, and picked out the pics that I thought were the most well done (and not dirty), so I can see how much IO have improved over the years.
I really haven't developed that much as an artist at all, have I? In fact, it looks like I have gone backwards this last year! Ugh! WHY DO I SUCK SO MUCH!?
...maybe it has something to do with the fact that it has taken me over FIVE FREAKIN' YEARS to fill ONE sketchbook!?
*sigh* I know that there is some improvement, but for crying out loud, I have seen some artists' MONTHLY improvement memes that have shown more improvement than this!
I guess I just REALLY need to force myself to draw more. Even if I do a doodle a day, or hell, a doodle every other day! I haven't even been able to do a doodle a WEEK with as slow as I have been! But I think I'm gonna try hammering out more stuff more often this next year. I'm gonna try to do a fresh start with a brand new sketchbook, and do all I can to fill every page before the end of the year! (Probably just about all porn ^^; ). My clean art sketchbook is still relatively empty, so i'm gonna continue filling the pages in that book, and see if I can't fill at least one of the books before 2017. If I do that, I MIGHT start improving.
And I know some of you are thinking it, and it is true. I need to start drawing more than just ponies as well if I'm ever gonna improve. My poor OCs have been so neglected! That picture of Aoife is the ONLY picture I ever finished of her! And I have three other OCs that haven't even had their FIRST drawings yet!
I'm such a bad artist...
Well... I think I'll try doing one of these at the end of every year from now on. It may encourage me to try to do better or something? Though, I hope it inspires others to also dry to develop their skills.
I actually remember being given a bit of hope when I saw the old artwork of an artist I admired,
danza, and discovered that his first drawings were just about as bad as mine! He is such an amazing artist, that it seems far-fetched to even consider that I could be anywhere close to his skill level. But when I saw his old art was like mine, it suddenly seemed possible.
That is why I have decided to never delete old artwork from my gallery (maybe just put some in scraps). I hope that one day, if I could be a good artist, new artists could look at how I was in the past, and get the same uplifting feeling that I got. And I encourage all of you to do the same!
