This piece is actually a continuation of this picture/story. As I developed Mara's character more and more, her personality and the nature of their relationship became more clear to me, and the story took a more gentle turn.

Eventually Mara's background story would be replaced altogether (as she gradually became a character  Balaa and I share), but this piece and the sentiments behind it is still genuine, so... leaving it here for your enjoyment. :>
