Any chance we'll see inside some of the cities?

Maybe! There's not much large infrastructure left anymore - out of the two major ones that everyone knows about, one is a completely hostile and evacuated deathzone, and the other is like a shantytown.

Given that the military is supplied somehow, maybe a weapons depot or fuel storage/refinement facility would be possible?

Yeah! Those kind so buildings would exist haha, just generally not anything close to a modern city anymore.

I love the cold world. How does someone utilize the magic when they're nearly dead?

By making a connection with the various creatures you're able to see - but most are too bewildered about what they're seeing to try anything. The closer one is to death, the closer the bond is with the creatures, but in the case like above in bleeding profusely to death, you'd have very little time to actually try anything (being seconds away from death) when they'd appear in view. Most die, and others who are brought back from the brink and witnessed something like that are usually written off as hallucinating. It's something that's very hard to prove the existence of, and even harder to actually do anything with haha. The local semi-sentients and sentients of Huu are probably much more knowledgeable about it than the not-so-native meylans.

Oh, that is actually very interesting. I may have to include something like that with Ugly's story.

Does the magic happen on purpose, or can someone who is clueless on the topic still manage to pull something off when the situation arises? Does it only work when near death because it's sort of the spirit evacuating the body, or does anyone really know why and how it works? Or will all my questions be answered in your work anyway?

It has to do with manipulating things from "the other side" so to speak - getting them to do things for you while you're closest to being "between" this life and the next. It's when the connection between what is magic on Reliquary and the normal mundane world is strongest and the only time one would be able to manipulate them. It's a pretty near-impossible feat to pull off, haha.
