Oh no, not the kitty. Do the puppy instead. Cats may scratch you when they grow up but you just declaw them an they will be all right. Puppies on the other hand grow up to tear your throat out or attack your neighbor wherein you have to pay up to the neighbor who was likely an asshole in the first place. Puppy first, kitty last, aye.
heheh... Actually, I am a cat person myself, so no harm will come to kitteh
De-clawing a cat is actually pretty harsh, I don't know that I would be willing to do that to a creature just to avoid a bit of cosmetic damage to various furnishings.
Dogs... now dogs I can take or leave. In the story that this picture is loosely based on, the kitteh is quite safe, but a dog comes to grief.

This is good to hear.
I have five kitties at my home and they are like family.
(we don't dress them up or bring them to shows, were not nuts or anything).
Even though they are all past the age of being a kitty we still call them our baby kitties and what have you.
It must prolong their age too, for example, two of our kitties are soon going to celebrate their 18th birthday (human years).
They are now so old that I personally know a few new freshmen at the Augusta State University here in Georgia who were born after my two kittes. . Interesting is it not, aye.

Pets like cats and dogs seem to worm their way into your life and do become like part of the family. To be honest, I have more empathy with cats than I do with some people, so I know where you're coming from.
18 years is a very impressive milestone for a cat! Kinda puts things into perspective when they're older than some of the uni-students being admitted to your uni!

A classic movie! And a very sexy xeno design, so why would I not? Anyway, this pic is kinda taken from a brief scene out of the rewritten version of The Cold Wind. And it's cute. And there are bulging muscles on demonic lizardy goodness. So I don't care.
And that's Mr. 1000 to you, Sir.

Sadly no, not a movie I'm familiar with. But if it's any good (yes, no?) I might have to look it up. There is no harm in being in your own crazy little world. Besides, how do you know you're not the relatively sane one, and it's just everyone else around you that's a can short of a six-pack?
Cause i don't have abs. :P I think sanity is decided by the majority of people anyways so either way, I'm a bit off. Plus i like to be the crazy one personally. Life is soo much more interesting that way, don't you think? Its a relatively new release and i liked it. I laughed cause some parts were absurd and others were just great.
Well on that recommendation I'd be silly to miss it Sanity is over-rated. A little bit of craziness helps to make the world a slightly more interesting place at times and keeps other people on their toes. Although I was referring to a 6-pack of beer, as opposed to abs But that's okay, I could happily stare at some guy's 6-pack all day..
Don't let that form fool you, man! Kittens are the most infamous form the the great Satan uses in order to let your guard down right before he devours your brains, soul, and dignity! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xGW5xsx039Y
IN fact, guns might not even be enough... you might wanna head back to the armory, get yourself a few railguns, sniper rifles, BFGs, a Cerebral Bore and a priest just to be on the safe side.
Worst case scenario, just blow the damn thing out the airlock!

Cats really are fickle creatures. One moment they're all playful and cute, the next they just fucking TURN on you for no apparent reason, then stalk off with that "I'm done playing now, fuck off" look. Meanwhile you're lying there in tatters croaking out "medic!" and hoping someone hears you before your cat eats you to death in your small, locked apartment...
Well he does have a nice fat package that I want to rub my face over, but you already knew that so it would be redundant to mention it over... and over... and over...
So I thought I'd talk about the kitty and how aliens would be all WTF? Food? Slave? What? What is this? Oh no it's broken, it's making a strange grating noise...

True, it is a fairly impressive package, even if that wasn't the intent of this commission
It is almost impossible to put yourself into the mindset of an alien... Would they grasp the concepts of a "pet"? Of religion? Of any concept that we humans seem to be so fond of? For that matter, how would a domesticated terrestrial creature react to something alien... curious? Fearful? Predatory? Indifferent?
... my brain hurts

I think that a society as old and large as this particular species (or as large as it was?) would need to feed all of it's people, and at one point that would likely involve gathering food resources closer, eventually raising food. If that food is animal-based, they would need to control, and that would likely lead to domestication. Would they do it for pleasure? That's not something for me to dictate, but given their rough and tumble nature, they would probably have some pretty impressive pets if they did. Thus, even if they had pets and understood them, seeing their first cute kitty would probably get a reaction similar to someone who, having been around large dogs all their lives and isolated from the world at large, sees their first "toy" breed.
As for the cat's reaction? Depends on the breed. There are cat breeds that are totally cool with being handled, one of which actually goes limp like a rag doll whenever it is picked up. There are others that just don't like to be around anything "different" that may get a little weird. This kitty looks rather content and likely was raised in a small apartment away from scary things. Ignorance is bliss. ;)
Yes, I really do think about things like this.

Heh, it shows, my friend. But you're probably right about the domestication thing, maybe. With intelligence and technology would come the need to obtain supplies in a replenishable manner. Unless the species evolved as scavengers (like those depicted in the Independance Day movie).
You state it well when talking about dogs and observing the first 'toy' breed. Man, you're deep!

You're one of a very small number of people not to go on about the bulging alien lizard crotch... You have my undying admiration for that fact alone, Blaine.
Sounds like you're a cat person, you understand ForgeWielder did a great job of this, it has been very well drawn using muted colours that suit the theme very well. Thanks for the nice comments!

Well your positive comments about the picture itself are appreciated. Just wish I could lay claim to it myself, but I have the unique ability to fuck up even a basic stick-figure... let alone anything more complex like this
You have a kitteh of your own, eh? I do envy you, mate... Although they might not have the 'outgoing personality' of a dog, there is something very cool about coming home after a tough day to someone who is glad to see you...
