So in my previous picture I mentioned that he was inflatable and liked to blow himself up to huge sizes. Well, this is the result of an accidental prototype nanomachine swarm keying into his enjoyment of it due to incomplete programming that tells them to actually STOP. Luckially he was able to get out the airlock, but until the scientists of the fleet look over the code and deploy a software patch via micro-radio, he's just going to keep growing, Growing, GROWING!!! Currently he's looking about Earth sized, maybe bigger. Not that he minds of course. That big, cozy, soft, and huggable belly is a good bonus, as is the perfume-smelling gas. He's just embarassed over the thought that this will be all over the news and the Mesh, the setting's inter-planetary internet.

Imagine the headlines: "Evergrowing spacerat becomes star attraction of local Scum swarm! 'OMGITSSOCUTE' and 'This furball has been great for our swarm. We've been getting tons of new faces, more supplies than we could ever want, and he's become the swarm's mascot. I honestly hope he either keeps growing or stabilizes so we don't have to shrink him down, preferably the former.' report locals."
