Life's A Chibi: Personal Reflection
It has been a while since I posted a Life's A Chibi image. I have a lot back stocked and never got around to post them because they were mostly spur of the moment drawings and I need to be in the right set of mind again to finish them and post them. This was an image I did half a year ago and completely forgot about it until today. So forgive my non sequitur rambling about this picture.
Have you ever looked in the mirror, not just to see if you have a new grown zit or your make-up smudged, but to really look at yourself and see the person you grown up to be? Have you just took the time to just look at your own reflection - see how much you have changed in both physical appearance and mental state? Do you remember that moment when you looked at your own reflection years ago, but it felt like it was yesterday, and you wondered: "How did I get here and did I grow up that fast? What happened?"
You shouldn't really look at this as a negative thing, but something positive. It shows that you have grown up into an amazing and active person. You have been too busy living and working every day that you completely loose touch of you who are and how much you physically grown as well as the world around you. You never really took the time just to be alone with yourself and collect all the events that happened within your life that lead you up to where you are now. Think of it as a recap of your life and what you have done to get to where you are now, the good and the bad. Both kinds of events helped you made who you are now. The decisions you made help refine who you are today. Time goes by so fast that you can quickly lose touch of who you are.
But there are times when you look at yourself in the mirror when a small grey cloud looms over your head and the reflection you see is someone that you don't recognize - a complete stranger at first glance. You question yourself, wondering if the choices you did in this lifetime was the right decision or the wrong one. Do you miss seeing yourself as a younger person, still growing up, learning and living through life without knowing where you will be within the next few years because every day was a mystery? Do you remember a time when you wish you could go back and relive a moment where you wish you turned left instead of right or said No instead of Yes? Maybe you wish you were someone else and not very happy at the reflection you are looking at now?
People change everyday, every hour. Every decision that we make in our lives effects us from something small to something massive. We mold our lives to shape what we want until years of warping and rendering came out to the final product that we are today. Our day to day life made us who we are today. But then, there is that small rare moment when you wish you could go back and see that unshaped mold of yourself you first started as and maybe do something different.
Be happy where you are now. You are who you are today. You are still shaping yourself - still growing as a human being and as a person. You are not a finished sculpture yet. If there is a choice that you made in the past that you can see upon your reflection, try to fix it in whatever way you can. Make yourself into the perfect sculpture you can possibly be.
Go up to a mirror, look at yourself, and have a small happy mental conversation with yourself. Keep in touch with yourself after so many years of change and choices, because the last thing you want is to forget what your own reflection looks like and who you are.

This reminds me of something I guess I can say here: I can hardly recognize my voice, but moreso because of the fact that I got so used to it being high-pitched as a kid that hearing my voice on playback now and hearing it be so deep just seems so confusing and weird. It's probably a reason I hardly talk to anyone vocally that aren't close friends, and instead opt for just text.
Life is weird, when you have the chance of simply not understanding YOURSELF. I mean, you'd think that'd be something obvious to do, but...

I have the same thing. Everyone tells me I need to do radio or something like that but I just don't hear it, it all sounds so high in my head.
That said I don't think I've EVER actually recognised myself in a mirror unless I was trying to. The person I know to be me just isn't reflected outwardly. Or maybe I just watch to many cartoons and that's what I expect to see X3

When you get what you want and your struggle for self,
And the world makes you king for a day, and the world makes you king for a day,
Then go to the mirror and look at yourself,
And see what that man has to say.
For it isn't your father, or mother, or wife who's verdict on you must pass.
The man whose judgment counts most in your life, is a man staring back from the glass.
He's the fellow to please never mind all the rest,
For he's with you clear up to the end;
And you've passed your most dangerous, difficult test,
If the man in the glass is your friend.
You can fool the whole world down the pathway of years,
And get pats on your back as you pass,
But the man in the glass says you're only a bum if you can't look him in the eye.

Literally the only part of myself i recognize in the mirror is my eyes. I have a very clear mental image of myself and it just does not match at all. I usually try to avoid looking at all of me at once because its offputting and disturbs me to not remember ever getting to this point.
