There are cool things about it, definitely. The ability to relate with people I ordinarily would never have met over something like sexy animal people is great, and I love the creative energy of our community.
There are just a lot of issues I have with the type of people the Fandom attracts, and how they conduct themselves. The tolerant, accepting nature of most people here engenders opportunistic behavior by attention whores, egomaniacal artists, social pariah, and other unsavory individuals.
I still stick around, so obviously it's something I can deal with.

But yeah I get what ur saying, it is a problem, and its most unacceptably unpleasant when your meeting furs irl. I went to a furmeet a year ago where we had a Nazi fur in full uniform show up. I was half expecting a dying WWII vet to roll up in a wheelchair with his service pistol to perform one final act of badassery. Its not so ironically amusing though when you have people drawing porn in public while furries who are raising kids (yes there are a lot of those) are trying introduce them to the fandom... which is almost impossible because its ridiculously sexualized even in public. I draw porn and nastier stuff but in public those things are all stowed away and I'm a conservative prude by most standards, but a too many furs don't understand basic decency when in public.
Its embarassing lol.
