Chiptune - Battletoads Double Dragon - Missile Mayhem (VRC6)
This game had some fantastic music. It was released on multiple platforms - NES, MegaDrive/Genesis, Super NES come to mind - and while they all had more or less the same music, they were arranged differently by David Wise. After hearing all versions, I most love the Super NES version of the music, though the others aren't bad in their own right.
So though a NES 2A03 chiptune arrangement of this song already existed in-game, I wanted to challenge myself to arrange the Super NES version of this to the Konami VRC6 chipset using FamiTracker. I considered using DPCM audio samples (perhaps for part of the percussion), but ultimately decided against it this time.
Why the General Slaughter thumbnail? Because I love this part of the game, but I don't care for its end boss (Robo-Manus). But this stage also has multiple mini-boss fights with General Slaughter, who is just awesome.
